Abstract
(11) Potassium ferricyanide has previously been used to convert w'c-1,2-dicarboxylate groups to double bonds. See, for example, L. F. Fieser and M. J. Haddadln, J. Am. Chem. Soc., 86, 2392 (1964). The oxidative dldecarboxylation of 1,2-dlcarboxyllc acids is, of course, a well-known process. See Inter alia (a) C. A. Grob, M. Ohta, and A. Weiss, Helv. Chim. Acta, 41, 1911 (1958); and (b) E. N. Cain, R. Vukov, and S. Masamune, J. Chem. Soc. D, 98 (1969).

Catalytic alkynone generation by Sonogashira reaction and its application in three-component pyrimidine synthesis.

TL;DR: The Sonogashira alkynylation of acid chlorides can be efficiently conducted in less than an hour by performing the reaction in tetrahydrofuran as a solvent and in the presence of one stoichiometrically necessary equivalent of triethylamine as a base.

Effects of genotype and nutrient availability on phytochemistry of trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides Michx.) during leaf senescence

TL;DR: Genotypic and nutrient effects on patterns of chemical change during senescence will likely influence the performance of late-season herbivores on aspen, and nutrient and especially genotypic variation in phytochemistry of abscised leaves is likely to affect litter decomposition rates.

Synthesis of functionalized amino acids by ring‐opening reactions of aliphatically substituted aziridine‐2‐carboxylic esters

TL;DR: In this paper, the nucleophilic ring-opening reactions of 3-alkylaziridine-2-carboxylic esters are described, and three types of activating groups are used, viz. acyl, alkoxycarbonyl and sulfonyl groups.

(Z,Z)-4,7-tridecadien-(S)-2-yl acetate: sex pheromone of Douglas-fir cone gall midge, Contarinia oregonensis.

TL;DR: This field test of the sex pheromone of female Douglas-fir cone gall midge, Contarinia oregonensis, revealed a single compound (A) that elicited responses from male antennae that was a tridecadien-2-yl acetate with nonconjugated double bonds.

Incorporation of esterified soybean isoflavones with antioxidant activity into low density lipoprotein.

TL;DR: Esterification of soybean isoflavones daidzein and genistein with fatty acids at different hydroxyl groups provided lipophilicity needed for incorporation into LDL, and some is oflavone oleic acid esters increased oxidation resistance of LDL following their incorporation.
