Abstract
(11) Potassium ferricyanide has previously been used to convert w'c-1,2-dicarboxylate groups to double bonds. See, for example, L. F. Fieser and M. J. Haddadln, J. Am. Chem. Soc., 86, 2392 (1964). The oxidative dldecarboxylation of 1,2-dlcarboxyllc acids is, of course, a well-known process. See Inter alia (a) C. A. Grob, M. Ohta, and A. Weiss, Helv. Chim. Acta, 41, 1911 (1958); and (b) E. N. Cain, R. Vukov, and S. Masamune, J. Chem. Soc. D, 98 (1969).

The interaction of phospholipase A2 with phospholipid analogues and inhibitors.

TL;DR: This systematic study of phospholipid-phospholipase A2 inhibition led to the following conclusions about sn-2 amide analogues, presumably because the amide forms a hydrogen bond with the water molecule in the enzyme active site, stabilizing its binding.

Efficient syntheses of pyrofolic acid and pteroyl azide, reagents for the production of carboxyl-differentiated derivatives of folic acid

TL;DR: Reaction of folic acid with excess trifluoroacetic anhydride provides access to both the previously unknown N10-(trifluorosoroacetyl)pyrofolic acid and pyroFolic acid, which may be oxidized to pteroyl azide on a large scale.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of prochiral olefins with a dynamic library of chiral TROPOS phosphorus ligands.

TL;DR: Kinetic studies of the reactions with the single ligands and with the combination of phosphite and phosphoramidite have shown that the phosphite, despite being less enantioselective, promotes the hydrogenation of methyl 2-acetamidoacrylate and methyl 2 -acetamidocinnamate faster than the mixture of the same phosphite with the phosphoromidite, while the phosphorus alone is much less active.

Discovery of a Novel Non-Peptide Somatostatin Agonist with SST4 Selectivity

TL;DR: The discovery of novel non-peptide compounds with a high affinity for the peptide hormone somatostatin (SST) receptor is described and NNC 26-9100 was found to fully inhibit forskolin-induced accumulation of adenosine 3‘,5‘-cyclic monophosphate in baby hamster kidney cells, expressing the human SST4 receptor with an EC50 of 2 nM.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the Mechanism of Oxazoline-Directed Metalations: Evidence for Nitrogen-Directed Reactions.

TL;DR: The results show that nitrogen is responsible for the directive effects of the oxazoline when alkyllithium reagents are used to deprotonate the ferrocene.
