TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a new solution for the coal surface processing in order to minimize the removal of pulverized coal from the coal pile, which substantially reduces the coal losses.
Abstract: Purpose. The article is aimed: 1) to develop the coal coating solution in open railway cars or to cover coal piles to minimize the coal dust losses; 2) creating a mathematical model of the process of the solution feeding to the surface of coal. Methodology. To solve this problem, it was developed a special solution containing cheap industrial wastes and semiproducts of chemical industries. It was conducted a physical experiment to assess the intensity of coal dust loss when using the developed solution. A mathematical model based on the use of the motion equations of the ideal fluid and mass transfer was developed. The developed numerical models are the basis of the application program package created for assessing the quality of processing the coal surface by special solution. Findings. The results of the conducted physical experiment to assess the magnitude of the coal dust loss on the model of the coal pile in the processing of its surface with a special solution and without processing are presented in the article. It is shown that the application of the proposed solution for surface processing of coal can significantly reduce the coal dust loss. This makes it possible to reduce the amount of economic losses and reduce the level of air dust pollution in work areas. The results of computational experiments carried out on the basis of the constructed numerical models are presented in the article. Originality. Authors proposed a new solution for the coal surface processing in order to minimize the removal of pulverized coal from the coal pile, which substantially reduces the coal losses. There were created numerical models to take into account the relevant factors influencing the solution dispersion process in the atmosphere from coal processing in gondola cars. Practical value. Solution, proposed in the article has a low price, because it can be created on the basis of industrial production wastes. Application of this solution can significantly reduce the intensity of coal dust losses from the surface of the coal pile. There were considered effective numerical models «diagnostic models» for rapid calculation of cargo processing in gondola cars with the solution. The models may be used in developing strategies of solution feeding to the cargo surface at various atmospheric conditions. The constructed numerical models can be used for scientific substantiation of the parameters of cargo processing with various forms of its surfaces in the gondola car.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors performed a comparative analysis of experimental and calculation methods for determination of the distribution of traction current harmonics in rails, where the special marks ("flags") were set up at a certain distance (100, 300 and 500 m) from the point of measurement along the track.
Abstract: The purpose of this work is to perform the comparative analysis of experimental and calculation methods for determination of the distribution of traction current harmonics in rails. To investigate the distribution of traction current in the rails, the special marks ("flags") were set up at a certain distance (100, 300 and 500 m) from the point of measurement along the track. The moments of passing the train past the "flags" were recorded in a computer due to a sound signal from the train, as well as visual observation. The train was moving in the measuring section in a quasi-stationary mode with an average speed of about 48 km/h. Traction current was measured in circuit of the inter-throttle jumper with using an inductive contactless sensor and registered using computer. The distribution of the return traction current harmonics in rails for AC feeding systems were modeled by using the multi-conductor transmission line (MTL) model. Some discrepancies in the results of experimental and calculation methods were observed. One of main reason of measurement errors were an inaccuracy in determining distances from the train to the measurement point. Calculation errors were related mainly with using inaccurate electrical parameters of track in model, in particular, the track ballast resistance and the ground resistances. However, in general, the considered model can be used for investigation of the traction current harmonic propagation in rails from train, and their influence on the track circuits receivers for different cases including the variation of the track circuits electrical parameters, as well as the number of rolling stock units in the feeder zone. Such analysis of harmonic in rails is important for revealing the causes of failures in railway signalling system operation under simultaneous affecting on it several factors adverse to safe operation.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a methodical approach to determine the costs of the company that will organize transportations on a specific tourist route, taking into account the demand for this type of tourist traffic.
Abstract: To increase the competitiveness of railway transport the authors propose to develop of railway tourism in Ukraine. The article aims to systematize the advantages and disadvantages of railway and automobile tourism and develop efficient areas of their use in this context. Moreover, the authors set a goal to develop a methodical approach to determine the costs of the company that will organize transportations on the specific tourist route. Studies have shown that tourist traffic by railway transport has high potential, provided that it will use modern comfortable rolling stock and have in its structure not only the cars for tourist transportation, but also dining car, casino car, disco car (during the day game car for kids) and others. The above mentioned set of cars should be recommended for cruise travel with a period from 8 to 28 days, for shorter journeys the tourist train may not include casino car, disco car (during the day game car for kids) and others. The final choice of tourist traffic should be justified by economic calculations using the method proposed by this article. The approach is based on accounting all complex of costs associated with the technological process of tourism services. It includes the costs for the process of transportation itself, delivery of additional services of infrastructure and rolling stock owners, pay for transfer transportations, services of hotels, restaurants, cafes, travel agencies, advertising organizations and own costs of travel company. It makes possible to determine the costs of travel package more accurately, taking into account the demand for this type of tourist traffic. As a result of the proposed measures one can expect increase of passenger traffic on the railroad, image improvement of the Ukrainian railways within the country and abroad, attraction of additional funds to renew the outdated infrastructure and rolling stock, restoration of the objects of cultural and historical significance, creation of new jobs, and restraining of migration processes in western Ukraine.
