TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of Al(NO 3 ) 3 and/or Na 2 SiO 3 additions in the anodizing electrolyte on the properties of the anodic films formed on AZ91D magnesium alloy were investigated.
Abstract: The effects of Al(NO 3 ) 3 and/or Na 2 SiO 3 additions in the anodizing electrolyte on the properties of the anodic films formed on AZ91D magnesium alloy were investigated. The base electrolyte used in this investigation was 3 M KOH+0.21 M Na 3 PO 4 +0.6 M KF solution. The crystal structure, chemical state, surface morphology and cross-section microstructure of the anodic film was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The corrosion behavior of anodized Mg alloy is examined using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. The results show that the anodic film was mainly composed of MgO. The additions of Na 2 SiO 3 and/or 0.15 M Al(NO 3 ) 3 into to the base electrolyte enhanced the formations of Al 2 O 3 , MgAl 2 O 4 in the silicate-containing anodized film, accompanied with silicate formation. Increased corrosion resistance of the anodic film was found when AZ91D Mg alloy was anodized in 3 M KOH+0.21 M Na 3 PO 4 +0.6 M KF+0.15 M Al(NO 3 ) 3 with 0.1 M Na 2 SiO 3 addition.

TL;DR: DNA-gated Fe3O4@Au@mSiO2 serves as a drug control and release carrier that features functions of magnetic target, MRI diagnosis, and combination therapy through the manipulation of a magnet and a NIR laser.
Abstract: A new multifunctional nanoparticle to perform a near-infrared (NIR)-responsive remote control drug release behavior was designed for applications in the biomedical field. Different from the previous studies in formation of Fe3O4-Au core–shell nanoparticles resulting in a spherical morphology, the heterostructure with polyhedral core and shell was presented with the truncated octahedral Fe3O4 nanoparticle as the core over a layer of trisoctahedral Au shell. The strategy of Fe3O4@polymer@Au was adopted using poly-l-lysine as the mediate layer, followed by the subsequent seeded growth of Au nanoparticles to form a Au trisoctahedral shell. Fe3O4@Au trisoctahedra possess high-index facets of {441}. To combine photothermal and chemotherapy in a remote-control manner, the trisoctahedral core–shell Fe3O4@Au nanoparticles were further covered with a mesoporous silica shell, yielding Fe3O4@Au@mSiO2. The bondable oligonucleotides (referred as dsDNA) were used as pore blockers of the mesoporous silica shell that allo...

TL;DR: Bio-organic fi eld-effect transistors (BiOFETs) use biomaterials as semiconductors, dielectrics, and substrates for organic electronics and these include DNA-hexadecyltrimethylammmonium chloride, nucleobases, and silk.
Abstract: IO N Biomaterials for organic electronics have gained considerable attention in recent years. [ 1–3 ] The advantages of biomaterials are that they are biodegradable, bioresorbable, biocompatible, typically environmentally friendly, and do not require chemical synthesis. Bio-organic fi eld-effect transistors (BiOFETs) use biomaterials as semiconductors, dielectrics, and substrates. For example, β -carotene [ 4 ] has been applied as semiconductors. DNA-hexadecyltrimethylammmonium chloride (DNACTMA), [ 5–7 ] nucleobases, [ 8 ] and silk [ 9 ] have been used as gate dielectrics. Silk [ 10 ] and poly ( L -lactideco -glycolide) (PLGA) [ 11 ]
