TL;DR: In this article, the crystal structure of LnFeAsO$1-y$ (Ln = La, Nd) has been studied by the powder neutron diffraction technique.
Abstract: The crystal structure of LnFeAsO$_{1-y}$ (Ln = La, Nd) has been studied by the powder neutron diffraction technique. The superconducting phase diagram of NdFeAsO$_{1-y}$ is established as a function of oxygen content which is determined by Rietveld refinement. The small As-Fe bond length suggests that As and Fe atoms are connected covalently. FeAs$_4$-tetrahedrons transform toward a regular shape with increasing oxygen deficiency. Superconducting transition temperatures seem to attain maximum values for regular FeAs$_4$-tetrahedrons.

TL;DR: The stoichiometric splitting of water into H2 and O2 (H2/O2 = 2) under visible light irradiation took place for the first time using a mixture of Pt-WO3 and Pt-SrTiO3 (Cr-Ta-doped) photocatalysts and an IO3-/I- shuttle redox mediator.

TL;DR: The anomalous Hall effect (AHE) and anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) are experimentally investigated in a variety of ferromagnetic metals including pure transition metals, oxides, and chalcogenides, whose resistivities range over 5 orders of magnitude.
Abstract: The anomalous Hall effect (AHE) and anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) are experimentally investigated in a variety of ferromagnetic metals including pure transition metals, oxides, and chalcogenides, whose resistivities range over 5 orders of magnitude. For these ferromagnets, the transverse conductivity sigma{xy} versus the longitudinal conductivity sigma{xx} shows a crossover behavior with three distinct regimes in accordance qualitatively with a recent unified theory of the intrinsic and extrinsic AHE. We also found that the transverse Peltier coefficient alpha{xy} for the ANE obeys the Mott rule. These results offer a coherent and semiquantitative understanding of the AHE and ANE to an issue of controversy for many decades.

TL;DR: It is argued that observations on the itinerant metamagnet Sr3Ru2O7 represent good evidence for a new class of quantum critical point, arising when the critical end point terminating a line of first-order transitions is depressed toward zero temperature.
Abstract: The concept of quantum criticality is proving to be central to attempts to understand the physics of strongly correlated electrons. Here, we argue that observations on the itinerant metamagnet Sr3Ru2O7 represent good evidence for a new class of quantum critical point, arising when the critical end point terminating a line of first-order transitions is depressed toward zero temperature. This is of interest both in its own right and because of the convenience of having a quantum critical point for which the tuning parameter is the magnetic field. The relationship between the resultant critical fluctuations and novel behavior very near the critical field is discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, a review of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) derived nanomaterials for various electrochemical energy storage and conversion applications including Li-ion batteries, Li-S batteries, Na-ion battery, supercapacitors, water splitting, and oxygen reduction reaction is reviewed.
Abstract: As emerging crystalline porous organic-inorganic hybrid materials, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been widely used as sacrificial precursors for the synthesis of carbon materials, metal/metal compounds, and their composites with tunable and controllable nanostructures and chemical compositions for electrochemical energy applications. Herein, recent progress of MOF-derived nanomaterials for various electrochemical energy storage and conversion applications including Li-ion batteries, Li-S batteries, Na-ion batteries, supercapacitors, water splitting, and oxygen reduction reaction is reviewed. Structural and compositional design of MOF-derived nanomaterials is systematically summarized, which may hopefully offer inspirations and guidances for future development of MOF-derived nanomaterials for more efficient and more durable electrochemical energy applications.
