TL;DR: In this article, the dehydration of ethanol into ethylene was investigated over various solid acid catalysts, such as zeolites and silica-alumina, at temperatures ranging 453-573 K under atmospheric pressure.
Abstract: The dehydration of ethanol into ethylene was investigated over various solid acid catalysts, such as zeolites and silica–alumina, at temperatures ranging 453–573 K under atmospheric pressure. Ethylene was produced via diethyl ether during the dehydration process. H-mordenites were the most active for the dehydration. It was suggested that the catalyst activity could be correlated with the number of strong Bronsted acid sites in the catalyst. Further, the H-mordenite was more stable with a SiO2/Al2O3 ratio of 90 than with a SiO2/Al2O3 ratio of 20.

TL;DR: The objectives of truck automation are energy saving and enhanced transportation capacity by platooning, and eventually possible reduction of personnel cost by unmanned operation of following vehicles.
Abstract: Technical studies on automated driving of passenger cars were started in the 1950s, but those on heavy trucks were started in the mid-1990s, and only a few projects have dealt with truck automation, which include “Chauffeur” within the EU project T-TAP from the mid-1990s, truck automation by California PATH from around 2000, “KONVOI” in Germany from 2005, and “Energy ITS” by Japan from 2008. The objectives of truck automation are energy saving and enhanced transportation capacity by platooning, and eventually possible reduction of personnel cost by unmanned operation of following vehicles. The sensing technologies for automated vehicle control are computer vision, radar, lidar, laser scanners, localization by GNSS, and vehicle to vehicle communications. Experiments of platooning of three or four heavy trucks have shown the effectiveness of platooning in achieving energy saving due to short gaps between vehicles.

TL;DR: OpenHRP is expected to initiate the exploration of humanoid robotics on an open architecture software and hardware, thanks to the unification of the controllers and the examined consistency between the simulator and a real humanoid robot.
Abstract: This paper introduces an open architecture humanoid robotics platform (OpenHRP for short) on which various building blocks of humanoid robotics can be investigated. OpenHRP is a virtual humanoid robot platform with a compatible humanoid robot, and consists of a simulator of humanoid robots and motion control library for them which can also be applied to a compatible humanoid robot as it is. OpenHRP also has a view simulator of humanoid robots on which humanoid robot vision can be studied. The consistency between the simulator and the robot are enhanced by introducing a new algorithm to simulate repulsive force and torque between contacting objects. OpenHRP is expected to initiate the exploration of humanoid robotics on an open architecture software and hardware, thanks to the unification of the controllers and the examined consistency between the simulator and a real humanoid robot.

TL;DR: In this paper, single-layered MoS2 doped with Re (n-type) and Au (p-type), is investigated by in situ scanning transmission electron microscopy.
Abstract: Single-layered MoS2 doped with Re (n-type) and Au (p-type) are investigated by in situ scanning transmission electron microscopy. Re atoms substituting Mo sites enhance the local chemical affinity, evidenced by agglomeration of other dopant/impurity atoms. Au atoms exist as adatoms and show larger mobility under the electron beam. These behaviors are consistent with density functional theory calculations.
