TLDR
A new method for determining nucleotide sequences in DNA is described, which makes use of the 2',3'-dideoxy and arabinon nucleoside analogues of the normal deoxynucleoside triphosphates, which act as specific chain-terminating inhibitors of DNA polymerase.Abstract:
A new method for determining nucleotide sequences in DNA is described. It is similar to the “plus and minus” method [Sanger, F. & Coulson, A. R. (1975) J. Mol. Biol. 94, 441-448] but makes use of the 2′,3′-dideoxy and arabinonucleoside analogues of the normal deoxynucleoside triphosphates, which act as specific chain-terminating inhibitors of DNA polymerase. The technique has been applied to the DNA of bacteriophage ϕX174 and is more rapid and more accurate than either the plus or the minus method.read more

Molecular characterization of the mouse agouti locus
TL;DR: It is found that the pleiotropic effects associated with the lethal yellow (Ay) mutation are accompanied by deregulated overexpression of the agouti gene in numerous tissues of the adult animal.

trkB, a neural receptor protein-tyrosine kinase: evidence for a full-length and two truncated receptors.
TL;DR: An adult rat cerebellar cDNA library in search of novel protein tyrosine-kinase (PTK) cDNAs showed that the trkB gene is expressed predominantly in the brain and that trkB expresses multiple mRNAs, ranging from 0.7 to 9 kb, and hybridization of cerebral mRNAAs with a variety of probes indicates that there are m RNAs encoding truncated trkB receptors.

TL;DR: Et1.1 represents a portion of the genome of the principal viral agent, to be named hepatitis E virus, which is responsible for epidemic outbreaks of ET-NANBH, and specifically identified similar sequences in complementary DNA prepared from infected human fecal samples collected from five geographically distinct ET- NANH outbreaks.

Developmental-specific activity of the FGF-4 enhancer requires the synergistic action of Sox2 and Oct-3.
TL;DR: FGF-4 is identified as the first known embryonic target gene for Oct-3 and for any of the Sox factors, and insights into the mechanisms of selective gene activation by Sox and octamer-binding proteins during embryogenesis are offered.
