TLDR
A new method for determining nucleotide sequences in DNA is described, which makes use of the 2',3'-dideoxy and arabinon nucleoside analogues of the normal deoxynucleoside triphosphates, which act as specific chain-terminating inhibitors of DNA polymerase.Abstract:
A new method for determining nucleotide sequences in DNA is described. It is similar to the “plus and minus” method [Sanger, F. & Coulson, A. R. (1975) J. Mol. Biol. 94, 441-448] but makes use of the 2′,3′-dideoxy and arabinonucleoside analogues of the normal deoxynucleoside triphosphates, which act as specific chain-terminating inhibitors of DNA polymerase. The technique has been applied to the DNA of bacteriophage ϕX174 and is more rapid and more accurate than either the plus or the minus method.read more

NYVAC: a highly attenuated strain of vaccinia virus
James Tartaglia,Marion E. Perkus,Jill Taylor,Elizabeth K. Norton,Jean-Christophe Audonnet,William I. Cox,Stephen W. Davis,Johanna Van Der Hoeven,Bernard Meignier,Michel Riviere,Bernard Languet,Enzo Paoletti +11 more
TL;DR: The NYVAC strain was demonstrated to be highly attenuated by the following criteria: greatly reduced virulence as demonstrated by the results of intracranial challenge of both 3-week-old or newborn mice; greatly reduced pathogenicity and failure to disseminate in immunodeficient (nude or cyclophosphamide treated) mice.

Metagenomics and future perspectives in virus discovery.
TL;DR: The potential of metagenomics for characterization of the normal viral population in a healthy community and identification of viruses that could pose a threat to humans through zoonosis is discussed and a new model of the Koch's postulates named the ‘Metagenomic Koch's Postulates’ is proposed.

Expression and Regulation by Interferon of a Double-Stranded- RNA-Specific Adenosine Deaminase from Human Cells: Evidence for Two Forms of the Deaminase
TL;DR: The results establish that K88 encodes an IFN-inducible ds RNA-specific adenosine deaminase and suggest that at least two forms of dsRNA-specificAdenosineDeaminase occur in human cells.

TL;DR: Results would indicate a selection of pre-C-defective mutants in persistently infected hosts, along with seroconversion to anti-HBe, by immune elimination of hepatocytes harboring nondefective HBV with the expression of HBeAg.

αB-crystallin is expressed in non-lenticular tissues and accumulates in Alexander's disease brain
TL;DR: Western blotting detected its equivalent in several rat organs, with the highest level in heart, and in a human astrocytoma cell line (U-373MG), and αB-crystallin is not lens-specific and it can accumulate in large amounts in astroCytes in pathological conditions.

Nucleotide sequence of bacteriophage G4 DNA.
TL;DR: The sequence identifies many of the features responsible for the production of the proteins of the nine known genes of the organism, including initiation and termination sites for the proteins and RNAs.
