TLDR
A new method for determining nucleotide sequences in DNA is described, which makes use of the 2',3'-dideoxy and arabinon nucleoside analogues of the normal deoxynucleoside triphosphates, which act as specific chain-terminating inhibitors of DNA polymerase.
Abstract
A new method for determining nucleotide sequences in DNA is described. It is similar to the “plus and minus” method [Sanger, F. & Coulson, A. R. (1975) J. Mol. Biol. 94, 441-448] but makes use of the 2′,3′-dideoxy and arabinonucleoside analogues of the normal deoxynucleoside triphosphates, which act as specific chain-terminating inhibitors of DNA polymerase. The technique has been applied to the DNA of bacteriophage ϕX174 and is more rapid and more accurate than either the plus or the minus method.

A G protein-linked receptor for parathyroid hormone and parathyroid hormone-related peptide

TL;DR: Striking homology with the calcitonin receptor and lack of homological with other G protein-linked receptors indicate that receptors for these calcium-regulating hormones are related and represent a new family.

Cloning and expression of a rat brain L-glutamate transporter.

TL;DR: An antibody against a glial L-glutamate transporter from rat brain is used to isolate a complemen-tary DNA clone encoding this transporter, which predicts a protein of 573 amino acids with 8–9 putative transmembrane α-helices that seems to be a member of a new family of transport molecules.

Multiple mutations in HIV-1 reverse transcriptase confer high-level resistance to zidovudine (AZT).

TL;DR: The reproducible nature of these mutations should make it possible to develop rapid assays to predict zidovudine resistance by performing polymerase chain reaction amplification of nucleic acid from peripheral blood lymphocytes, thereby circumventing current lengthy HIV isolation and sensitivity testing.

The Functional Role of the ELR Motif in CXC Chemokine-mediated Angiogenesis

TL;DR: A functional role of the ELR motif is suggested in determining the angiogenic or angiostatic potential of CXC chemokines, supporting the hypothesis that the net biological balance between angiogenicity and angiOSTatic CXCs may play an important role in regulating overall angiogenesis.

A human T cell-specific cDNA clone encodes a protein having extensive homology to immunoglobulin chains

TL;DR: A cloned and sequenced a human mRNA specific for mammalian T-lymphoid cells found to be expressed in human and murine T lymphoblasts, thymocytes and phytohaemagglutinin-stimulated T lymphocytes suggests that the cDNA clone may correspond to a message that specifies part of the human T-cell receptor.

A rapid method for determining sequences in DNA by primed synthesis with DNA polymerase.

TL;DR: A simple and rapid method for determining nucleotide sequences in single-stranded DNA by primed synthesis with DNA polymerase is described and was used to determine two sequences in bacteriophage φX174 DNA.

Nucleotide sequence of bacteriophage G4 DNA.

TL;DR: The sequence identifies many of the features responsible for the production of the proteins of the nine known genes of the organism, including initiation and termination sites for the proteins and RNAs.
