On the evaluation of structural equation models

TLDR
In this article, structural equation models with latent variables are defined, critiqued, and illustrated, and an overall program for model evaluation is proposed based upon an interpretation of converging and diverging evidence.
Abstract
Criteria for evaluating structural equation models with latent variables are defined, critiqued, and illustrated. An overall program for model evaluation is proposed based upon an interpretation of converging and diverging evidence. Model assessment is considered to be a complex process mixing statistical criteria with philosophical, historical, and theoretical elements. Inevitably the process entails some attempt at a reconcilation between so-called objective and subjective norms.

Measuring Tourists’ Emotional Experiences toward Hedonic Holiday Destinations

TL;DR: In this paper, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses identify three salient dimensions to represent the Destination Emotion Scale, namely, joy, love, and positive surprise, and find that tourists' emotional experiences are related to satisfaction, which has a significant influence on behavioral intentions.

Fostering Consumer–Brand Relationships in Social Media Environments: The Role of Parasocial Interaction

TL;DR: This article used parasocial interaction (PSI) theory as a theoretical lens for designing successful social media strategies and found that consumers feel more connected with the brand when they are aware of the possibility that the brand's social media response may be automated.

Intellectual capital and new product development performance: The mediating role of organizational learning capability

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the relationship between intellectual capital and organizational learning capability, and found that human capital and relational capital actually improved new product development performance through organizational learning capabilities, while structural capital positively affects organizational learning ability.

Customer Loyalty to Whom? Managing the Benefits and Risks of Salesperson-Owned Loyalty

TL;DR: In this article, a study of 362 buyer-salesperson dyads using triadic data (from buyer, salesperson, and sales manager) examined both a customer's overall loyalty to the selling firm and the customer's loyalty vested specifically in his or her salesperson.

Examining the Antecedents and Consequences of Corporate Reputation: A Customer Perspective

TL;DR: In this article, the antecedents and customer-related consequences of corporate reputation for one important stakeholder group, customers, and within a special service sector where product and corporate associations are synonymous are examined.

Evaluating Structural Equation Models with Unobservable Variables and Measurement Error

TL;DR: In this paper, the statistical tests used in the analysis of structural equation models with unobservable variables and measurement error are examined, and a drawback of the commonly applied chi square test, in additit...

A new look at the statistical model identification

TL;DR: In this article, a new estimate minimum information theoretical criterion estimate (MAICE) is introduced for the purpose of statistical identification, which is free from the ambiguities inherent in the application of conventional hypothesis testing procedure.

Estimating the Dimension of a Model

TL;DR: In this paper, the problem of selecting one of a number of models of different dimensions is treated by finding its Bayes solution, and evaluating the leading terms of its asymptotic expansion.

Significance tests and goodness of fit in the analysis of covariance structures

TL;DR: In this article, a general null model based on modified independence among variables is proposed to provide an additional reference point for the statistical and scientific evaluation of covariance structure models, and the importance of supplementing statistical evaluation with incremental fit indices associated with the comparison of hierarchical models.
