TL;DR: The bromatological composition, mineral content, bioactive compounds, and antioxidant capacity of three native Amazon Arecaceae fruits (buriti, acai, and inaja) were chemically evaluated as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: The bromatological composition, mineral content, bioactive compounds, and antioxidant capacity of three native Amazon Arecaceae fruits (buriti, acai, and inaja) were chemically evaluated. These fruits showed high moisture contents (> 55%), and levels of ash values, total crude protein, and total carbohydrates in the range of 0.68-1.28%, 0.49-2.14%, and 6.10-26.51%, respectively. High levels of total lipids were found in buriti (21.0%). A wide range of mineral content was detected and the highest levels were found in the pulps of buriti (Ca, Cu, Fe, and Mg), inaja (Na and Zn) and acai (Mn). All three fruits showed antioxidant activity with important levels of phenolic compounds and good or rich content of vitamin C. This study provides new data on the antioxidant activity and the nutritional composition of native Amazonian fruits. Based on this study, these fruits are suitable for use in the food and cosmetics industries, as well as in pharmaceutical compositions.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyze how the systems approach can contribute to the understanding of the landscape of mangroves, and understand what dynamics are enhanced or even generated by anthropogenic interventions in the mangrove environment.
Abordagem sistemica. Paisagem. Abstract The mangrove ecosystem in the city of Salinopolis (PA) presents unique dynamic due to potentiating economic dynamics of social interventions (such as tourism) and natural dynamics (pollution of mangroves). The construction of urban waterfront on the beaches of Macarico and Corvina contributed to the incorporation of these spaces more intensively in urban dynamics, influencing a deleterious form the in mangrove environments. It then analyze how the systems approach can contribute to the understanding of the landscape of mangroves, and understand what dynamics are enhanced or even generated by anthropogenic interventions in the mangrove environment. Making use of techniques for primary data collection with field work, preparation of sketches and systematic observation, taking as input secondary data available at the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) it was established that there is a major input of freshwater runoff originating from areas now impermeable and that the mangrove is characterized as regressive geosystem with geomorphogenesis linked to human action, in addition to natural factors that are inherent in social action (movement of winds). TL;DR: In this paper, the authors try to establish some relationships between the categories society, environment and frontier in the Amazon, especially from the perspective of political and administrative developments, from colonial times to recent times.
Abstract: This work is the result of thematic discussions on topics covered during the First International Seminar on Society and Frontiers, sponsored by PPGSOF/UFRR, on December 2012 in Boa Vista. Here we try to establish some relationships between the categories society, environment and frontier in the Amazon, especially from the perspective of political and administrative developments, from colonial times to recent times. The Amazon frontier is characterized here as nothing more than a historical supplier of natural resources as well as more than a space delimited by the National State. Its traditional inhabitants are seen as builders of their own space, and are also incorporated into projects of the National State in order to meet existing demands elsewhere, either at the beginning of the conquest or at present. In short, it is how the economics and politics overcome peoples and environment and shaped life in the area known today as the Brazilian Amazon.
