Abstract: O oidio (Erysiphe diffusa) tornou-se uma das principais doencas que afeta a cultura da soja (Glycine max), podendo causar reducao significativa no rendimento da cultura. Esse trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar o efeito dos extratos aquosos de Agaricus blazei, Lentinula edodes e Pycnoporus sanguineus no controle do oidio em casa-de-vegetacao e na inducao de fitoalexinas em cotiledones de soja. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado com cinco repeticoes. Como controle utilizou-se fungicida (enxofre – 3g/L) e testemunha - sem aplicacao. Os tratamentos utilizados foram: extratos aquosos de Agaricus blazei, Lentinula edodes e Pycnoporus sanguineus na concentracao de 20 %v/v sendo estes aplicados aos 61 e 68 dias apos a semeadura. Avaliou-se a incidencia e severidade aos 59, 65, 69, 73 e 77 dias apos a semeadura em todos os foliolos de cada planta. Com os dados da severidade, calculou-se a area abaixo da curva de progresso da doenca (AACPD). Para a incidencia, detectou-se diferenca significativa entre o fungicida e os demais tratamentos. Para severidade e AACPD, observou-se que os extratos diferiram da testemunha, sendo que L. edodes mostrou ser mais eficiente que os demais tratamentos. Para o bioensaio de fitoalexinas foi aplicado sobre cada cotiledone de soja uma aliquota de 75 µL de cada extrato aquoso nas concentracoes de 1%, 2%, 4% e 10%. Apos 20 horas, os mesmos foram transferidos para erlenmeyers contendo 15 mL de agua destilada esterilizada e deixados em agitacao por 1 h para extracao da fitoalexina formada. A absorbância foi determinada a 285 nm em espectrofotometro. Observou-se um maior acumulo de fitoalexina nas maiores concentracoes dos extratos aquosos.

Abstract: Little is known about the toxicity of immune modulators in fish. Zafirlukast is an anti-inflammatory that antagonizes cysteine leukotriene receptors (CysLTR1). Aiming to develop strategies for the sanitary management of fish farms, this study evaluated the clinical safety of oral zafirlukast treatment, through biochemical and hematological analyzes during acute inflammatory reaction in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), induced by Aeromonas hydrophila bacterins. 72 young tilapias were randomly divided in 9 aquariums (100 L each, n=8) to compose the following treatments: T0 (control), T1 (Treatment with 250 µg zafirlukast) and T2 (Treatment with 500 µg zafirlukast). Eight animals were evaluated per treatment in three periods: six, 24 and 48 hours post-inoculation (HPI), blood collection was performed for hematological and serum biochemical evaluation. The study of hepatic and renal functionality revealed that treatment with both doses of zafirlukast did not result in changes in the circulating values of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase, creatinine, triglycerides, cholesterol, and total protein, suggesting that the drug has not compromised liver and kidney functions. Tilapia submitted to treatment with 500 µg showed adverse hematological effects characterized by polycythemia associated with microcytosis and hypochromia. Therefore, oral treatment with zafirlukast has demonstrated clinical safety at a therapeutic dose of 250 µg in tilapia during acute aerocystitis, although hematological changes were observed in tilapia treated with overdose of this leukotriene blocker.

Abstract: As avaliacoes quantitativas da densidade populacional na comunidade microbiana nos solos sao importantes para estabelecer relacoes ecologicas que ocorrem no solo e identificar fatores que exercem influencia no equilibrio microbiologico. Objetivou-se quantificar os microrganismos do solo com potencial de uso agricola presente em diferentes manejos de uso do solo. O experimento foi conduzido no Instituto Federal de Ciencias e Tecnologia de Roraima - Campus Novo Paraiso, no municipio de Caracarai, Roraima. O experimento foi realizado em tres areas, solo em sistemas de cultivo consorciados, area com gliricidia, laranja e banana, area com laranja e essencia florestal e mata. Em cada area foi coletado amostras de solo nas profundidades de 0-10 e 10-20 cm. A microbiota ativa do solo foi avaliada pela tecnica de plaqueamento em superficie. A quantificacao foi obtida por unidades formadoras de colonias por grama de solo (UFC g solo-1). As placas foram incubadas em estufa de crescimento a 28 oC por 48 e 96 horas, apos esse periodo foi realizada a contagens das unidades formadoras de colonias. A quantificacao dos organismos amonificadores, celuloliticos e actinobacterias foi obtido pela suspensao do solo, utilizando meios de cultura especificos para cada organismo. Os resultados demostram que o solo com o consorcio gliricidia, laranja e banana apresenta uma maior populacao de microrganismos (total, celuloliticos, amonificadores e actinobacterias), mostrando ser uma alternativa para sistemas de consorcios com culturas agricolas, proporcionando uma maior biodiversidade de microrganismos no solo, alem de ajudar no fornecimento de nitrogenio para as especies.

Abstract: A new taxon of Hermanellonota or subtribe Hermanellina (Ephemeroptera: Leptophlebiidae: Atalophlebiinae) was found from Northern Brazil, in the limits of Pacaraima in Brazil and Santa Helena de Uairén in Venezuela. While nymphs of this taxon are similar to those of the genus Farrodes, the adults could not be assigned to any of the genera included in the group. In order to clarify the systematic relationship of this taxon and to provide a reliable hypothesis concerning its generic placement, we analyzed it using an available matrix from the literature and performed a new cladistic analysis. As a result we describe Rondophlebia rubra gen. nov. et sp. nov. sister to the Perissophlebiodes complex + Hermanella complex. Our analyses also shed new insights on the systematics of Hermanellonota.

Abstract: We investigate, in the context of five-dimensional (5D) Brans-Dicke theory of gravity, the idea that macroscopic matter configurations can be generated from pure vacuum in five dimensions, an approach first proposed in the framework of general relativity. We show that the 5D Brans-Dicke vacuum equations when reduced to four dimensions lead to a modified version of Brans-Dicke theory in four dimensions (4D). As an application of the formalism, we obtain two five-dimensional extensions of four-dimensional O'Hanlon and Tupper vacuum solution and show that they lead two different cosmological scenarios in 4D.
