TLDR
Escherichia coli cells are 4--6 times more transformable and 20--30 times more competent after 24 h incubation in cold calcium chloride than immediately after calcium chloride treatment.About:

Protective and immunogenic effects of Escherichia coli-expressed infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) VP2-VP3 fusion protein in rainbow trout.
Maryam Dadar,Hamid Rajabi Memari,Vikram N. Vakharia,Rahim Peyghan,MasodReza Seifi Abad Shapouri,Takavar Mohammadian,Reza Hasanzadeh,M. Ghasemi +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that E. coli-expressed IPNV VP2-VP3 injectable vaccine is highly immunogenic and protective against IPNV infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
A point mutation in the core subunit gene of yeast mitochondrial RNA polymerase is suppressed by a high level of specificity factor MTF1
Gudula Riemen,Georg Michaelis +1 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that suppression is mediated by an increased level of MTF1 protein in mitochondria of the rpo41/pet-ts798 mutant, which is a mitochondrial protein and no apparent cleavage occurs during its import into mitochondria.

Peptide, antibacterial agent, peptide gene, recombinant DNA and method for preparing the peptide
TL;DR: In this article, a peptide represented by the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, an antibacterial agent comprising the peptide as an active ingredient, peptide gene encoding peptide, a recombinant DNA comprising peptide genes and a method for producing peptide was presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two different aldolase A mRNA species in rat tissues
TL;DR: Double-stranded DNA was synthesized with reverse transcriptase from size-fractionated poly(A)-containing RNA from rat ascites hepatoma cells and the partial amino acid sequence of the cDNA sequence was determined, and found to coincide with that of rabbit aldolase A.
Journal ArticleDOI
Euglena gracilis chloroplast ribosomal RNA transcription units. Nucleotide sequence polymorphism in 5 S rRNA genes and 5 S rRNAs.
TL;DR: The three tandemly repeated ribosomal RNA operons from the chloroplast genome of Euglena gracilis Klebs, Pringsheim Strain Z each contain a 5 S rRNA gene distal to the 23 S r RNA gene, which is cloned and found to exhibit sequence polymorphism at five bases within the "procaryotic loop" coding region.

Construction and characterization of new cloning vehicles. II. A multipurpose cloning system.
Francisco Bolívar,Raymond L. Rodriguez,Patricia J. Greene,Mary C. Betlach,Herbert L. Heyneker,Herbert W. Boyer,Jorge H. Crosa,Stanley Falkow +7 more
TL;DR: In vitro recombination techniques were used to construct a new cloning vehicle, pBR322, which is a relaxed replicating plasmid, does not produce and is sensitive to colicin E1, and carries resistance genes to the antibiotics ampicillin (Ap) and tetracycline (Tc).
Journal ArticleDOI
Nonchromosomal Antibiotic Resistance in Bacteria: Genetic Transformation of Escherichia coli by R-Factor DNA
TL;DR: Covalently-closed, catenated, and open (nicked) circular forms of R-factor DNA are all effective in transformation, but denaturation and sonication abolish the transforming ability of R.factor DNA in this system.
Journal ArticleDOI
Calcium-dependent bacteriophage DNA infection.
Manley Mandel,A. Higa +1 more
TL;DR: Escherichia coli cells of strain K12 and C can be made competent to take up temperate phage DNA without the use of “helper phage”, and is effective for both linear and circular DNA molecules.
