This work shows that graphene's electronic structure is captured in its Raman spectrum that clearly evolves with the number of layers, and allows unambiguous, high-throughput, nondestructive identification of graphene layers, which is critically lacking in this emerging research area.
Abstract
Graphene is the two-dimensional building block for carbon allotropes of every other dimensionality We show that its electronic structure is captured in its Raman spectrum that clearly evolves with the number of layers The D peak second order changes in shape, width, and position for an increasing number of layers, reflecting the change in the electron bands via a double resonant Raman process The G peak slightly down-shifts This allows unambiguous, high-throughput, nondestructive identification of graphene layers, which is critically lacking in this emerging research area

Hierarchical Composite Electrodes of Nickel Oxide Nanoflake 3D Graphene for High-Performance Pseudocapacitors

TL;DR: In this article, a hierarchical NiO-3D graphene composite is applied as monolithic electrodes for a pseudo-supercapacitor application without needing binders or metal-based current collectors.

Effect of ball-milling and graphene contents on the mechanical properties and fracture mechanisms of graphene nanosheets reinforced copper matrix composites

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of the GNSs content on the microstructures, mechanical properties and fracture mechanisms of the composites were investigated, and it was indicated that the aggregation of GNS contents in the composite is apparent, which seriously separates the matrix and results in low mechanical properties.

Highly efficient and sustainable non-precious-metal Fe–N–C electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction

TL;DR: In this paper, an efficient and sustainable Fe-N-C catalyst was successfully synthesized by temperature-programmed N2-pyrolysis from a ferrous ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) chelate.

Synthesis of graphene–carbon nanotube hybrid foam and its use as a novel three-dimensional electrode for electrochemical sensing

TL;DR: In this paper, the 3D graphene-CNT hybrid foams were used as novel 3D electrochemical electrodes for sensing applications, and they showed high sensitivity (∼470.7 mA M−1 cm−2) and low detection limit (∲20 nM with S/N ≈ 9.2) for dopamine detection.

The green reduction of graphene oxide

TL;DR: In this paper, the green reduction of graphene oxide (GO) to graphene is discussed and the characterization of GO and its oxide reduction through the analysis of different spectroscopic and microscopic techniques.
