J.W. Christian, +1 more
TLDR
In this paper, the authors present a general introduction to the theory of transformation kinetics of real metals, including the formation and evolution of martensitic transformations, as well as a theory of dislocations.

Effects of aging temperature on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 1.8Cu-7.3Ni-15.9Cr-1.2Mo-low C, N martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of aging temperature on the microstructure and mechanical properties of a newly designed martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel, which is 1.8Cu-15.9Cr-7.3Ni-1.2Mo-low C, N steel, for improving the toughness, ductility and corrosion resistance of stainless steel of 1000 MPa grade tensile strength were experimentally investigated.

An in situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction study of precipitation kinetics in a severely deformed Cu–Ni–Si alloy

TL;DR: In situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction was used to study the decomposition kinetics of a metastable Cu-2.5Ni-0.6Si (wt%) alloy after severe plastic deformation by equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) and high-pressure torsion (HPT).

Kinetics of growth and coarsening of faceted hexagonal precipitates in an f.c.c. matrix—I. Experimental observations

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported on the precipitation kinetics of a range of Al-Ag alloys under different conditions of aging temperature and supersaturation, and the interpretation of the results is that at the start of the reaction thickening is inhibited due to a low density of growth ledges.

A Theoretical Investigation of Orientation Relationships and Transformation Strains in Steels

TL;DR: A novel method that identifies transformation strains with ORs is introduced and used to develop a new strain-based approach to phase-transformation models in steels and predicts a sharpening of the transformation textures with increasing tetragonality.

Stress development and relaxation during crystal growth in glass-forming liquids

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of elastic stresses on the thermodynamic driving force and the rate of crystal growth in glass-forming liquids is analyzed and it is shown that for temperatures lower than a certain decoupling temperature, Td, elastic stresses may considerably diminish the thermodynamics driving force.
