In this paper, the authors present a general introduction to the theory of transformation kinetics of real metals, including the formation and evolution of martensitic transformations, as well as a theory of dislocations.

Kinetics of ferrite to austenite transformation during welding of 1005 steel

TL;DR: In this paper, the kinetics of ferrite to austenite phase transformation in 1005 steel during welding were quantitatively determined by a combination of phase mapping using X-ray diffraction and transport phenomena based numerical modeling.
Journal ArticleDOI

Kinetics of austenite transformation during thermomechanical processes

TL;DR: In this paper, the results of more than 20 years systematic study of deformation effects on the ferrite-pearlite and bainite transformations conducted by the authors and their colleagues are discussed.

Triple-line disclinations in polycrystalline material

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that triple lines acquire the character of disclinations, i.e. oriented lines with a tensor of rank 2 attributed to them, and that such lines cannot end within the polycrystal (analogous to dislocations in the single crystal).

Modelling of heat flow in solidification

TL;DR: In this paper, a review is given of how the numerical treatment of transport phenomena can be employed to simulate the progress of solidification, where the primary concern is with the modelling of heat transfer, which is normally the rate-determining process, but attention is also devoted to the modifying influences of diffusive and convective redistribution of mass and momentum.

Effect of copper addition on the fracture and fatigue crack growth behavior of solution heat-treated SUS 304H austenitic steel

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of Cu on room temperature mechanical properties that include fracture toughness and fatigue crack threshold of as-solutionized SUS 304H steel were investigated, and it was concluded that small additions of Cu to 304H will not have adverse effects on its fracture and fatigue behavior.
