TL;DR: A predictive correlation is used to identify reservoirs with the highest recovery factors among the candidates of the CO2 miscible flooding, and results show that miscible CO2 and hydrocarbon gas injections are two promising mechanisms for the reservoirs under study.
Abstract: As the application of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) mechanisms expands globally, a vast amount of information is reported annually and many statistical works are carried out aiming mostly at the feasibility study of employing EOR methods for candidate reservoirs. In the last decades, researchers have gathered huge databases and used various techniques to identify screening criteria ranges for each EOR method. Screening algorithms are then developed to desirably benefit from the criteria ranges for candidate selection. The numerous screening criteria ranges reported for each EOR technique and the variety of screening algorithms raise the problem of choice, especially for petroleum engineers who plan to initiate EOR projects. This paper summarizes important screening criteria and screening algorithms and discusses and elaborates on subjects such as the importance of the following: accuracy in the EOR screening, comparing the parameters of the candidate reservoir with the criteria ranges, establishing a quantitative basis for comparison, dealing with a large number of candidate reservoirs, ranking the importance of parameters for each EOR method, assigning weights for parameters, and defining cutoffs. Based on a series of optimistic and pessimistic criteria extracted from the collected criteria, a case study is performed involving 11 candidate Iranian reservoirs and the EOR options for each reservoir are ranked accordingly. Then, a predictive correlation is used to identify reservoirs with the highest recovery factors among the candidates of the CO2 miscible flooding. The results show that miscible CO2 and hydrocarbon gas injections are two promising mechanisms for the reservoirs under study.

TL;DR: In this paper, a combined theoretical and laboratory study of the formation of shear bands in triaxial compression and plane strain compression is presented. But the results of the study are limited to the case of monotonic loading.
Abstract: This paper presents the results of a combined theoretical and laboratory study of the formation of shear bands in triaxial compression, triaxial extension, and plane strain compression. The principal finding is that shearbands are initiated more easily under plane strain than under axially symmetric conditions of the triaxial test. The triaxial compression test is most resistant to shear banding, although the theory tends to overestimate the stability of this test. The lack of agreement between the theory and experiment requires a reassessment of the suitability of isotropic hardening laws even for monotonic loading.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed the recent research efforts on zirconia ceramic manufactured using additive manufacturing techniques and provided a comprehensive survey of the existing research, as well as an insightful discussion regarding the potential research in the future.
Abstract: In recent years, additive manufacturing (AM) has emerged as a type of efficient manufacturing technology for building ceramic prototypes with increased dimensional accuracy, improved time efficiency, and reduced cost A wealth of research works have been conducted to uncover the underlying formation mechanism of zirconia ceramic parts manufactured by AM processes and to improve the performance of the parts In spite of the achievements, there are still some unresolved issues, such as porosity, cracks, coffee staining, which impede the adoption of AM processes for zirconia part manufacturing This paper aims to review the recent research efforts on zirconia ceramic manufactured using AM techniques The existing works are mainly categorized in terms of the different AM preparation methods and the applications More importantly, the challenges and opportunities related to AM of zirconia products are discussed As such, this review provides not only a comprehensive survey of the existing research, but also an insightful discussion regarding the potential research in the future Innovations are expected to be stimulated for many critical industrial applications

TL;DR: An FT-Raman profiling method is developed to monitor growth of structural homogeneity of binary GexSe100-x melts in real-time (tR) non-invasively as starting materials are reacted over days as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: An FT-Raman profiling method is developed to monitor growth of structural homogeneity of binary GexSe100-x melts in real time (tR) non-invasively as starting materials are reacted over days Raman spectra of quenched melts were acquired along a one inch long column of a sample in a quartz tube In the first step of reaction, tR < 2 days, Ge-rich crystalline- and glassy- phases form and coexist with Se-rich glasses In the second step, tR extending up to 7 days, local structures characteristic of melts/glasses form, and steadily homogenize as Ge and Se atoms diffuse The process terminates when all Raman lineshapes taken along the length of a sample coalesce into unique profile Several factors contribute to the long reaction time tR for melts to homogenize, including liquid density difference of Ge and Se, diffusion controlled nanoscale mixing of melts, batch dryness, batch sizes, and laser spot size Physical properties of such homogeneous GexSe100-x glasses are found to be quite different from their inhomogeneous counterparts realized after the first step of reaction Slow homogenization of chalcogenides melts may occur generally Variations in physical properties of chalcogenide glasses possessing nominally the same composition may have their origin in structural heterogeneity and purity
