TL;DR: Cooperative phenomena, described by one-dimensional statistical physical methods, are observed between the enantiomeric characteristics of monomeric materials and the polymers they produce, offering the possibility of developing chiral catalysts and chiral chromatographic materials in which the burden of large enantiomersic excess or content may be considerably alleviated.
Abstract: Cooperative phenomena, described by one-dimensional statistical physical methods, are observed between the enantiomeric characteristics of monomeric materials and the polymers they produce. The effect of minute energies associated with this amplified chirality, although currently not interpretable, can be easily measured. Nonlinear relationships between enantiomeric excess or enantiomeric content and polymer properties may offer the possibility of developing chiral catalysts and chiral chromatographic materials in which the burden of large enantiomeric excess or content may be considerably alleviated. New approaches to information and sensor technology may become possible.

TL;DR: The first successful in vivo transfer of NFκB decoy oligodeoxynucleotides to reduce the extent of myocardial infarction following reperfusion is reported, providing a new therapeutic strategy for myocardia infarctions.
Abstract: The transcriptional factor nuclear factor-kappaB (NFkappaB) plays a pivotal role in the coordinated transactivation of cytokine and adhesion molecule genes that might be involved in myocardial damage after ischemia and reperfusion. Therefore, we hypothesized that synthetic double-stranded DNA with high affinity for NFkappaB could be introduced in vivo as "decoy" cis elements to bind the transcriptional factor and to block the activation of genes mediating myocardial infarction, thus providing effective therapy for myocardial infarction. Treatment before and after infarction by transfection of NFkappaB decoy, but not scrambled decoy, oligodeoxynucleotides before coronary artery occlusion or immediately after reperfusion had a significant inhibitory effect on the area of infarction. Here, we report the first successful in vivo transfer of NFkappaB decoy oligodeoxynucleotides to reduce the extent of myocardial infarction following reperfusion, providing a new therapeutic strategy for myocardial infarction.

TL;DR: It is found that leptin increases ROS generation in BAEC in a dose-dependent manner and that its effects are additive with those of glucose, which may play an important role in the progression of atherosclerosis in insulin-resistant obese diabetic patients.

TL;DR: Two types of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) having a porphyrin unit have been synthesized as discussed by the authors, and the two COFs have shown very high charge carrier mobility values (8.1 cm2 V−1 s−1).
Abstract: Two types (imine and boronate) of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) having a porphyrin unit have been synthesized. The two highly crystalline porphyrin COFs (COF-366 and COF-66) display excellent chemical and thermal stability and are permanently porous. Two-dimensional extended layered structures of the two COFs demonstrate very high charge carrier mobility values (8.1 cm2 V−1 s−1).
