TLDR
The results strengthen the clinical evidence that AD is accompanied by an inflammatory response, particularly higher peripheral concentrations of IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β, TGF-β,IL-12 and IL-18 and higher CSF concentrations of T GF-β.

Aberrations in peripheral inflammatory cytokine levels in substance use disorders: a meta‐analysis of 74 studies

TL;DR: People with substance use disorders (SUDs) appear to have higher peripheral concentrations of IL-4,IL-6, IL-8, Il-10, IL -12, TNF-α, C-reactive protein, MCP-1, TNFR2 and GM-CSF and lower peripheral concentrationsof leptin than people without SUDs, which strengthens the view that SUD is accompanied by an inflammatory response.

Atherosclerosis, biomarkers of atherosclerosis and Alzheimer's disease.

TL;DR: The present review is focused on cardiovascular risk factors, lipids, and circulating biomarkers of inflammation, discussing them as independent mechanisms converging to the same final pathogenetic cascade of AD.

Tuftsin-based, EGFR-targeting fusion protein and its enediyne-energized analog show high antitumor efficacy associated with CD47 down-regulation

TL;DR: The results suggest that tuftsin-based, enediyne-energized, and EGFR-targeting fusion proteins exert highly antitumor efficacy with CD47 modulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of 1-palmitoyl-2-linoleoyl-3-acetyl-rac-glycerol on Immune Functions in Healthy Adults in a Randomized Controlled Trial.

TL;DR: The data suggest that PLAG has an immunomodulatory function that inhibits the excessive immune activity of immunological disorders such as atopic and autoimmune diseases and could improve the condition of these diseases safely as a health food supplement.
Journal ArticleDOI

Low perceived social support is associated with CD8+CD57+ lymphocyte expansion and increased TNF-α levels.

TL;DR: Poor social support may be related to a state of chronic inflammation sustained by CD8+CD57+ lymphocyte expansion and increased TNF-α levels, and the association between perceived social support and immune function is supported.

Bias in meta-analysis detected by a simple, graphical test

TL;DR: Funnel plots, plots of the trials' effect estimates against sample size, are skewed and asymmetrical in the presence of publication bias and other biases Funnel plot asymmetry, measured by regression analysis, predicts discordance of results when meta-analyses are compared with single large trials.

Quantifying heterogeneity in a meta‐analysis

TL;DR: It is concluded that H and I2, which can usually be calculated for published meta-analyses, are particularly useful summaries of the impact of heterogeneity, and one or both should be presented in publishedMeta-an analyses in preference to the test for heterogeneity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Operating characteristics of a rank correlation test for publication bias.

TL;DR: In this paper, an adjusted rank correlation test is proposed as a technique for identifying publication bias in a meta-analysis, and its operating characteristics are evaluated via simulations, and the test statistic is a direct statistical analogue of the popular funnel-graph.
