MAP kinase kinase kinase, MAP kinase kinase and MAP kinase.

TLDR
Recent advances have shown that in two MAP kinase pathways (the mating response pathway in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe, and receptor tyrosine kinase signalling), the small GTP binding protein ras p21 links membrane events to kinase pathway activation.

Gα12 and Gα13 Regulate Extracellular Signal-regulated Kinase and c-Jun Kinase Pathways by Different Mechanisms in COS-7 Cells

TL;DR: Different mechanisms mediate two effects of Gα12 and Gα13: the ERK pathway inhibition is mediated at the level of MAP kinase kinase in a Ras- and Raf-independent fashion, whereas the JNK pathway stimulation is mediated by Cdc42.

Cooperation of p38 and Extracellular Signal-regulated Kinase Mitogen-activated Protein Kinase Pathways during Granulocyte Colony-stimulating Factor-induced Hemopoietic Cell Proliferation

TL;DR: It is shown that two distinct cytoplasmic regions of the G-CSF receptor are involved in activation of the p38 pathway: a region within the 100 membrane-proximal amino acids is sufficient to induce low levels of p38 and MAP kinase-activated protein kinase 2 activation, whereas the membrane-distal phosphorylation site Tyr763 mediates strong activation of these kinases.

N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) and the regulation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways: a revolving neurochemical axis for therapeutic intervention?

TL;DR: The purpose of this review is to discuss the role of MAPKs and their role in a plethora of cellular functions, how cellular signaling pathways, related cofactors and intracellular conditions affect NMDA-MAPK interactions and the role in pathophysiology and the evolution of disease conditions.

The p38 MAP kinase inhibitor SB203580 enhances nuclear factor‐kappa B transcriptional activity by a non‐specific effect upon the ERK pathway

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the p38 MAP kinase pathway is not involved in the OA‐induced activation of NF‐κB, and the involvement of the ERK1/2 pathway in the enhancing effects of SB203580 on NF-κB‐mediated gene transcription is implicate.

Mammalian Ras interacts directly with the serine/threonine kinase Raf

TL;DR: Raf interacts with wild-type and activated Ras, but not with an effector domain mutant of Ras or with a dominant-interfering Ras mutant, and this interaction is dependent on GTP bound to Ras.

ERKs: A family of protein-serine/threonine kinases that are activated and tyrosine phosphorylated in response to insulin and NGF

TL;DR: Cl cloning and characterization of two ERK1-related kinases, ERK2 and ERK3, are described and evidence suggesting that there are additional ERK family members is provided, which may serve as intermediates that depend on tyrosine phosphorylation to activate serine/threonineosphorylation cascades.

cPLA2 is phosphorylated and activated by MAP kinase.

TL;DR: Treatment of cells with agents that stimulate the release of arachidonic acid causes increased serine phosphorylation and activation of cytosolic phospholipase A2 (cPLA2).

Phosphorylation of c- jun mediated by MAP kinases

TL;DR: Evidence is presented that mitogen-activated protein-serine (MAP) kinases (pp54 and pp42/44) specifically phosphorylate these sites and that their phosphorylation positively regulates the transacting activity of c-jun.

Raf-1 activates MAP kinase-kinase.

TL;DR: Results indicate that c-Raf-1 is an immediate upstream activator of MAPK-K in vivo, the first physiological substrate of the c-raf-l protooncogene product to be identified.
