TL;DR: The present review considers the most recently published literature concerning COX-2 inhibitors and the last developments concerning this therapeutic family by highlighting structure-activity relationships insights and mechanisms are presented.
Abstract: Inflammation is a complex phenomenon necessary in human defense mechanisms but also involved in the development of some human diseases. The discovery of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX- 2) improved the pharmacology of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) giving a clear mechanism for prostaglandin regulation in vivo and providing a new target for the development of COX-2-selective drugs without gastrointestinal side-effects. Keeping in view the importance of this pharmacological class, several literature reports have underlined the impact of these antiinflammatory compounds in therapeutics. The present review considers the most recently published literature concerning COX-2 inhibitors until 2016. Through a wide chemical classification, the last developments concerning this therapeutic family by highlighting structure-activity relationships insights and mechanisms are presented. A summary of the principal adverse effects observed and an overview of the new potential therapeutic indications for COX-2 inhibitors are also reported.

19 Oct 1993TL;DR: It is shown that the firing condition at the nth firing can be expressed by the means of the marking, the enabling point of enabled transitions, and the minimal and maximal elapsed time between to firings, which leads to an attractive definition of state classes.
Abstract: An enumerative approach for time Petri nets (or Melin's model) analysis is presented. In this model, if a transition t is enabled at time /spl tau/, it can be fired at any time in the interval [/spl tau/+tmax(t)]. It is shown that the firing condition at the nth firing can be expressed by the means of the marking, the enabling point of enabled transitions, and the minimal and maximal elapsed time between to firings. This result leads to an attractive definition of state classes and allows a simple computation of reachable state classes. The approach presented has two main advantages. First, the computation of reachable state classes is more simple and does not require any solution of a system. Second, the graph obtained is a subgraph of that given by M. Menasche (1982). >

TL;DR: The first evidences for a mechanism of action involving the inhibition of the pancreatic α-amylase are proposed by flaxseed-derived lignans that could therefore constitute a promising nutraceutical for the prevention and the treatment of T2DM.

TL;DR: This paper addresses the problem of interval observer design for unknown input estimation in linear time-invariant systems by designing joint state and unknown input observers within a set-membership context and shows the efficiency of the proposed approach.
Abstract: This paper addresses the problem of interval observer design for unknown input estimation in linear time-invariant systems. Although the problem of unknown input estimation has been widely studied in the literature, the design of joint state and unknown input observers has not been considered within a set-membership context. While conventional interval observers could be used to propagate with some additional conservatism, unknown inputs by considering them as disturbances, the proposed approach allows their estimation. Under the assumption that the measurement noise and the disturbances are bounded, lower and upper bounds for the unmeasured state and unknown inputs are computed. Numerical simulations are presented to show the efficiency of the proposed approach.
