TL;DR: In this article, the carrier energy and momentum engineering design concepts have been utilized to realize higher intensity, up to 200 nW, in p+nn+ silicon avalanche-based LEDs in a silicon 0.35- $\mu \text{m}$ RF bipolar process.
Abstract: Carrier energy and momentum engineering design concepts have been utilized to realize higher intensity, up to 200 nW. $\mu \text{m}$ -2 in p+nn+ silicon avalanche-based LEDs in a silicon 0.35- $\mu \text{m}$ RF bipolar process. The spectral range is from 600- to 850-nm wavelength region. Best performance are up to 600-nW vertical emission in a 3- $\mu \text{m}$ square active area at 10 V and 1 mA (200 nW.um-2). The achieved emitted optical intensity is about 100 fold better as compared with other published work for nearest related devices. In particular, evidence has been obtained that light emission in silicon are strongly related to scattering mechanisms in a high density n+ dopant matrix of phosphorous atoms in silicon that has been exposed to successive thermal cycles, as well on the optimization of the carrier energy and momentum distributions during such interactions.

TL;DR: The NRLiSt BDB should become a powerful tool to assess the performance of virtual screening methods on NRs, to assist the understanding of NR's function and modulation, and to support the discovery of new drugs targeting NRs.
Abstract: Nuclear receptors (NRs) constitute an important class of drug targets. We created the most exhaustive NR-focused benchmarking database to date, the NRLiSt BDB (NRs ligands and structures benchmarking database). The 9905 compounds and 339 structures of the NRLiSt BDB are ready for structure-based and ligand-based virtual screening. In the present study, we detail the protocol used to generate the NRLiSt BDB and its features. We also give some examples of the errors that we found in ChEMBL that convinced us to manually review all original papers. Since extensive and manually curated experimental data about NR ligands and structures are provided in the NRLiSt BDB, it should become a powerful tool to assess the performance of virtual screening methods on NRs, to assist the understanding of NR’s function and modulation, and to support the discovery of new drugs targeting NRs. NRLiSt BDB is freely available online at http://nrlist.drugdesign.fr.

TL;DR: The presence of a yeast community in the fish gut that appears to be strongly shaped by a carnivorous diet is revealed and increases the repertoire of microorganisms interacting with the host intestine, which could influence health and disease.
Abstract: This is the first study using molecular and culture-based methods aimed at investigating the composition of the intestinal yeast microbiota of wild and reared carnivorous salmonids, croaker and yellowtail, to characterize their cores and to evaluate the enzymatic activities of the cultivated yeast. Among 103 samples from salmonids, croaker and yellowtail, yeast were detected in 85.4%, with 43 species identified. The core of reared fish was composed of eight species, in contrast to the wild fish core, which consisted of two species: Debaryomyces hansenii and Rhodotorula mucilaginosa. Despite the smaller diversity of the wild fish core, similar enzymatic profiles were detected for the species from the wild and reared cores. For principal component analysis, samples grouped together independently of host species, domestication status and location. A high proportion of yeast produced aminopeptidases and lipases, which may be explained by the high proportion of protein and lipids in the carnivorous diet. This study reveals the presence of a yeast community in the fish gut that appears to be strongly shaped by a carnivorous diet. Yeast in the gut increases the repertoire of microorganisms interacting with the host intestine, which could influence health and disease.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report on unprecedented levels of parametric amplification in microelectromechanical resonators, operated in air, with integrated piezoelectric actuation and sensing capabilities.
Abstract: We report, in this work, on unprecedented levels of parametric amplification in microelectromechanical resonators, operated in air, with integrated piezoelectric actuation and sensing capabilities. The method relies on an analytical/numerical understanding of the influence of geometrical nonlinearities inherent to the bridge-like configuration of the resonators. We provide analytical formulae to predict the performances of the parametric amplifier below the nonlinearity threshold, in terms of gain and quality factor (Q) enhancement. The analysis explains how to overcome this nonlinearity threshold by controlling the drive signals. It predicts that in theory, any Q-factor enhancement can be achieved. Experimental validation demonstrates a Q-factor enhancement by up to a factor 14 in air.
