TL;DR: Using ammonium sulfate precipitation followed by hydrophobic and ion exchange chromatography, two lipoxygenase isoenzymes, LOX 1 and LOX 2, were 18.3 and 44.5fold purified from germinated barley, with 18 and 24% recovery of activity respectively as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: Using ammonium sulfate precipitation followed by hydrophobic and ion exchange chromatography, two lipoxygenase isoenzymes, LOX 1 and LOX 2, were 18.3- and 44.5-fold purified from germinated barley, with 18 and 24% recovery of activity respectively. LOX 1 and LOX 2 were characterized by isoelectric points 4.9 and 6.4, and molecular weights of 90 kd and 110 kd, respectively. Apparent Km values for linoleic acid were 0.06 mM for LOX 1 and 0.18 mM for LOX 2. LOX 1 converted linoleic acid to 9 and 13 hydroperoxides at about 4:1, whereas the 13 hydroperoxide was the major product formed by LOX 2 (ratio 3:7). For both isoforms, thermal inactivation data indicated first order kinetics with activation energies influenced by ionic strength and pH. Isoenzymes composition was analyzed for three kilning schemes: the 1:3 ratio between LOX 1 and LOX 2 observed in germinated barley increased during the course of kilning.

TL;DR: To test the spectroscopic performance of the OPO, saturation spectroscopy of several transitions belonging to the ν1 rovibrational band of CH₃I was carried out, resolving their electronic quadrupole hyperfine structure, estimating a linewidth better than 200 kHz FWHM for the idler, and determining the absolute frequency of the hyperfine components with a 50-kHz-uncertainty.
Abstract: We present a widely-tunable, singly-resonant optical parametric oscillator, emitting more than 1 W between 2.7 and 4.2 μm, which is phase locked to a self-referenced frequency comb. Both pump and signal frequencies are directly phase-locked to the frequency comb of a NIR-emitting fs mode-locked fibre laser, linked, in turn, to the caesium primary standard. We estimate for the idler frequency a fractional Allan deviation of ∼ 3 × 10−12τ−1/2 between 1 and 200 s. To test the spectroscopic performance of the OPO, we carried out saturation spectroscopy of several transitions belonging to the ν1 rovibrational band of CH3I, resolving their electronic quadrupole hyperfine structure, estimating a linewidth better than 200 kHz FWHM for the idler, and determining the absolute frequency of the hyperfine components with a 50-kHz-uncertainty.

TL;DR: A pharmaceutical composition containing 7-hydroxylated derivatives of natural steroid hormones having, if necessary, a 3β hydroxyl function, for use as an immunity trigger or stimulant (hereinafter termed "immunity effector"), particularly for cell immunity as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A pharmaceutical composition containing 7-hydroxylated derivatives of natural steroid hormones having, if necessary, a 3β hydroxyl function, for use as an immunity trigger or stimulant (hereinafter termed "immunity effector"), particularly for cell immunity. Said pharmaceutical compositions may also be used as anti-glucocorticoid agents.

TL;DR: A two level resource allocation scheme is proposed to enhance the Quality of Service (QoS) for multimedia services in LTE downlink system using a solution that combines cooperative game theory, a virtual token mechanism, and the EXP-RULE algorithm.
Abstract: In this paper a two level resource allocation scheme is proposed to enhance the Quality of Service (QoS) for multimedia services in LTE downlink system. It corresponds to a solution that combines cooperative game theory, a virtual token mechanism, and the EXP-RULE algorithm. By using cooperative game theory such as bankruptcy game and Shapley value, the proposed mechanism works by forming coalitions between flow classes to distribute bandwidth fairly. EXP-RULE algorithm has been modified to use a virtual token mechanism to improve its performance. By taking into account constraints such as Shapley value fairness and the virtual token robustness, the proposed mechanism can increase remarkably the performance for real time flows such as video and VoIP in downlink system. The performance evaluation is conducted in terms of system throughput, packet loss ratio (PLR), cell spectral efficiency and fairness index.
