TL;DR: The emergence and development of an economic analysis of rescue laws are the outcome of a long-term process that began in the 1950s with the passing of the first Good Samaritan legislations and finally results in articles published by Landes and Posner at the end of the 1970s.
Abstract: The economic analysis of law mostly relies on the assumption of self-interested agents. Until the early 1970s, it is little concerned with the issues of rescue and helping. Now, an economic analysis of rescue laws appears with the works of Landes and Posner (1978). We show that the emergence and development of an economic analysis of rescue laws are the outcome of a long-term process that began in the 1950s with the passing of the first Good Samaritan legislations and finally results in articles published by Landes and Posner at the end of the 1970s. The article investigates the context that made the occurrence of such an economic analysis of law possible and the controversy that it fueled in the legal and economic fields. It also highlights the influence of the economic analysis of altruism on this particular field of law and economics.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors argue that the current dominant logics in finance, short-termism, predictability of the future based on ex-post data, price efficiency, and risk-adjusted returns, impede the effective integration of climate considerations in financial markets.
Abstract: Financial markets play a major role in contributing to the transition to a low-carbon economy. Although many initiatives and developments are taking place, this is just the beginning. In this article, we argue for a theory of change—a theory rooted in logics that will help financial markets play a key role in the transition to a low-carbon economy. We argue that the current dominant logics in finance—short-termism, predictability of the future based on ex-post data, price efficiency, and risk-adjusted returns—impede the effective integration of climate considerations in financial markets. We suggest four alternative logics that can enable and foster a change toward the low-carbon economy: long-termism, systems interconnectedness, carbon price dynamics, and active ownership.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of environmental policy on the farmer's soil optimal management is studied. But the authors focus on a dynamic economic model of soil erosion, where the intensity use of inputs allows the farmer to control soil losses and therefore, inputs use induces pollution which is accentuated by the soil fragility.
Abstract: This paper studies the effects of environmental policy on the farmer's soil optimal management. We consider a dynamic economic model of soil erosion where the intensity use of inputs allows the farmer to control soil losses. Therefore, inputs use induces a pollution which is accentuated by the soil fragility. We show, at the steady state, that the environmental tax induces a more conservative farmer behavior for soil, but in some cases it can exacerbate pollution. These effects can be moderated when farmers introduce abatement activity.
