TL;DR: This tutorial review highlights recent progress in understanding the physical chemistry and materials science involved in sintering, including the discussion of advanced techniques, such as in situ microscopy and spectroscopy, for investigating the sintered process and its rate.
Abstract: Catalyst sintering, a main cause of the loss of catalytic activity and/or selectivity at high reaction temperatures, is a major concern and grand challenge in the general area of heterogeneous catalysis. Although all heterogeneous catalysts are inevitably subjected to sintering during their operation, the immediate and drastic consequences can be mitigated by carefully engineering the catalytic particles and their interactions with the supports. In this tutorial review, we highlight recent progress in understanding the physical chemistry and materials science involved in sintering, including the discussion of advanced techniques, such as in situ microscopy and spectroscopy, for investigating the sintering process and its rate. We also discuss strategies for the design and rational fabrication of sinter-resistant catalysts. Finally, we showcase recent success in improving the thermal stability and thus sinter resistance of supported catalytic systems.

TL;DR: Overall, miR-29c in urinary exosome correlates with both renal function and degree of histological fibrosis, suggesting it as a novel, noninvasive marker for renal fibrosis.
Abstract: Micro (mi)RNAs are frequently dysregulated in the development of renal fibrosis. Exosomes are small membrane vesicles that could be isolated from urine secreted from all nephron segments. Here we s...

TL;DR: A novel halide exchange-driven cation exchange (HEDCE) strategy is developed to prepare dually emitting Mn-doped CsPb(Cl/Br)3 NCs via postsynthetic replacement of partial Pb in preformed perovskite NCs.
Abstract: Unlike widely used postsynthetic halide exchange for CsPbX3 (X is halide) perovskite nanocrystals (NCs), cation exchange of Pb is of a great challenge due to the rigid nature of the Pb cationic sublattice. Actually, cation exchange has more potential for rendering NCs with peculiar properties. Herein, a novel halide exchange-driven cation exchange (HEDCE) strategy is developed to prepare dually emitting Mn-doped CsPb(Cl/Br)3 NCs via postsynthetic replacement of partial Pb in preformed perovskite NCs. The basic idea for HEDCE is that the partial cation exchange of Pb by Mn has a large probability to occur as a concomitant result for opening the rigid halide octahedron structure around Pb during halide exchange. Compared to traditional ionic exchange, HEDCE is featured by proceeding of halide exchange and cation exchange at the same time and lattice site. The time and space requirements make only MnCl2 molecules (rather than mixture of Mn and Cl ions) capable of doping into perovskite NCs. This special molecular doping nature results in a series of unusual phenomenon, including long reaction time, core–shell structured mid states with triple emission bands, and dopant molecules composition-dependent doping process. As-prepared dual-emitting Mn-doped CsPb(Cl/Br)3 NCs are available for ratiometric temperature sensing.

TL;DR: This paper studies a distributed coordinated control problem for a class of linear multi‐agent systems subject to two types of attacks: connected and disconnected (paralyzed) directed switching topologies and attacks on the edges instead of nodes.
Abstract: Summary
This paper studies a distributed coordinated control problem for a class of linear multi-agent systems subject to two types of attacks. The problem boils down to how to achieve secure consensus tracking for multi-agent systems with connected and disconnected (paralyzed) directed switching topologies caused by two types of attacks. The attacks on the edges instead of nodes lead to the loss of security performance. Two cases are studied in this paper. First, under only a class of connectivity-maintained attacks, sufficient conditions are derived to achieve secure consensus tracking in mean-square. Second, when the multi-agent systems are further subject to a class of connectivity-broken attacks, novel sufficient conditions are further obtained to ensure secure consensus tracking with a specified convergence rate by virtue of the idea of average dwell time switching between some stable and unstable subsystems. Three numerical simulations are finally given to illustrate the theoretical analysis. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
