Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and Evaluation of a Mitochondria-Targeting Poly(ADP-ribose) Polymerase-1 Inhibitor
Tanja Krainz,Andrew M. Lamade,Lina Du,Taber S. Maskrey,Michael J. Calderon,Simon C. Watkins,Michael W. Epperly,Joel S. Greenberger,Hülya Bayır,Peter Wipf,Robert S. B. Clark +10 more
TL;DR: XJB-veliparib and analogous mitochondria-targeting PARP inhibitors warrant further evaluation in vitro and in vivo, particularly in conditions where PARP overactivation leads to mitochondrial energy failure and maintenance of genomic DNA integrity is desirable, e.g., ischemia, oxidative stress, and radiation exposure.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Effects of On-Road Turbulence on Automotive Wind Noise: Comparing Wind-Tunnel and On-Road Tests
Journal ArticleDOI
Compensatory increases of select proteostasis networks after Hsp70 inhibition in cancer cells
Sara Sannino,Christopher J. Guerriero,Amit J. Sabnis,Donna B. Stolz,Callen T. Wallace,Peter Wipf,Simon C. Watkins,Trever G. Bivona,Jeffrey L. Brodsky +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that cancer cells can compensate for Hsp70 inhibition by inducing autophagy, emphasizing the role of autophophagy/chaperone-based therapies.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
An Investigation of Fixed and Rotary Wing MAV Flight in Replicated Atmospheric Turbulence
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemoptogenetic ablation of neuronal mitochondria in vivo with spatiotemporal precision and controllable severity.
Wenting Xie,Wenting Xie,Binxuan Jiao,Binxuan Jiao,Qing Bai,Vladimir Ilin,Ming Sun,Charles E Burton,Dmytro Kolodieznyi,Michael J. Calderon,Donna B. Stolz,Patricia L. Opresko,Claudette M. St. Croix,Simon C. Watkins,Bennett Van Houten,Marcel P. Bruchez,Edward A. Burton +16 more
TL;DR: This work developed a precision chemoptogenetic approach to target neuronal mitochondria in the intact nervous system in vivo and shows a direct relationship between mitochondrial function, neuronal biogenetics and whole-animal behavior.
