TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated short-term, intermediate, and long-term outcomes of public service education in Pakistan and found that students reported higher levels of satisfaction with program goals, curriculum, and instructional techniques.
Abstract: This study examined outcomes of public service education in Pakistan. Building on existing models for assessing such programs, we evaluated short-term, intermediate, and long-term outcomes. MPA student perceptions were recorded from the two universities of Pakistan offering the largest MPA programs. Short-term outcomes were encouraging: Students showed higher levels of satisfaction with program goals, curriculum, and instructional techniques. Results of intermediate outcomes also are promising: Students showed complete satisfaction with learning and building competencies required in the workplace. Results of long-term outcomes, however, indicate a challenge. Although long-term outcomes are not easy to assess, examining them in a South Asian country characterized by a politicized bureaucracy and centralized public administration authority is even more challenging. The public affairs administrative systems and education programs work in isolation in Pakistan. Students reported a strong desire to dev...

TL;DR: In this article, a path loss prediction model for line-of-sight communication at microwave frequency is proposed, which incorporates the effects of obstacles like vegetation and vehicular traffic present in actual urban environment.
Abstract: Path loss prediction model for line-of-sight communication at microwave frequency is proposed in this paper. The proposed model incorporates the effects of obstacles like vegetation and vehicular traffic present in actual urban environment. Loss layer model is used to include the effect of trees while average height model employs the traffic effect in propagation loss. These two models are incorporated into two ray model to predict the path loss in microcellular environment. Simulations are carried out and results show good agreement with measurements published in literature.

TL;DR: In this paper, a low-cost flex sensor was fabricated from conductive carbon paste using direct ink write (DIW) technique, which is one of the additive manufacturing processes which is capable of depositing a variety of material on a different substrate to feature resolution at a microns level.
Abstract: The present work is intended to fabricate low-cost flex sensor from conductive carbon paste using direct ink write (DIW) technique. DIW method is one of the additive manufacturing processes, which is capable to deposit a variety of material on a variety of substrates by a different mechanism to feature resolution at a microns level. It is widely used in the electronic industry for fabrication of PCBS and electrodes for different electronic devices. The DIW system in present study extrudes material stored in the syringe barrel through nozzle using compressed air. This mechanism will assist in creating patterns on a variety of substrates. Pneumatic controller is employed to control deposition of material, while computer-controlled X–Y stage is employed to control pattern generation. For effective and control patterning, printing parameters were optimized using Taguchi design optimization technique. The conductive carbon paste is used as ink for pattern generation on flexible PET substrate. Samples of flex sensor having different dimensions are prepared through DIW. The fabricated sensors were used as flexion sensor, and its electrical characteristic was evaluated. The obtained sensors are stable and reliable in performance.

TL;DR: In this article, a facile thermal approach has been implemented to synthesize carbon particles (CP) from waste human hair, and surface analyses were made through SEM, ATR, TGA & Raman.
Abstract: Pollution has become a great challenge for modern world. Hence, recycling trend is growing worldwide. Human hair, a fancy part of human body, creates a bulk of litter on trimming, yet has wide spectrum of applications. A facile thermal approach has been implemented in this research to synthesize carbon particles (CP) from waste human hair. CP surface analyses was made through SEM, ATR, TGA & Raman. Efficient adsorptive behavior of synthesized CP against Zn and Pb has been observed with 70% Pb (9.325mg/10mg CPs) and 90% Zn (37mg/10mg CPs) adsorption. The augmented adsorptive capacity of CP ultimately finds its application in heavy metal removal from waste water. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) justified outstanding adsorption behavior of CP by speedy electron transfer, better charge storage and swift ionic diffusion; with 53 mC current carrying capacity and 1.98 to 4.37 cm2 effective surface area. CV data has shown electrochemical reversibility and double layer capacitance. CP conductivity has been observed from 19.78 µS to 38.4 µS, with values between -17.4 mV and -28.6 mV.
