TL;DR: In this paper, a programmable scanner for laser bathymetry is described, where the sounding pattern and spot density can be chosen by the operator and optimized for the specific charting mission.
Abstract: This article describes a programmable scanner for laser bathymetry. Present scanners use a fixed pattern scan. A programmable scanner however offers many advantages regarding system performance and utility in that the sounding pattern and spot density can be chosen by the operator and optimized for the specific charting mission.

24 Oct 2016TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived the correct formula for thermal transmission of a camouflage net, based on the setup described in the US standard for lightweight camouflage nets, and compared the results and implications with the use of an incorrect formula that have been seen in several recent tenders.
Abstract: In this article we derive, from first principles, the correct formula for thermal transmission of a camouflage net, based on the setup described in the US standard for lightweight camouflage nets. Furthermore, we compare the results and implications with the use of an incorrect formula that have been seen in several recent tenders. It is shown that the incorrect formulation not only gives rise to large errors, but the result also depends on the surrounding room temperature, which in the correct derivation cancels out. The theoretical results are compared with laboratory measurements. The theoretical results agree with the laboratory results for the correct derivation. To summarize we discuss the consequences for soldiers on the battlefield if incorrect standards and test methods are used in procurement processes.

TL;DR: In this article, the shadowing effects of the incident laser light due to metallization were investigated for different pulse widths using both laser and accelerator sources, and the results were in good agreement with the results from the accelerator measurements.
Abstract: Transient radiation responses on VLSI-circuits of various complexities were studied for different pulse widths using both laser and accelerator sources. The shadowing effects of the incident laser light due to the metallization were also investigated. The results were in good agreement with the results from the accelerator measurements. The transmission studies show that the metal cover at the most sensitive latch-up areas on the circuits compared to the reference circuit IDT 6116 follows the VdG/laser ratio latch-up threshold values well. The large divergence (>or=20%) from 1.0 for some circuits' VdG/laser-ratio indicates, however, that the use of only one calibration circuit for radiation assessment with a laser is unsatisfactory. The big difference in metal cover and complexity between circuits requires the use of a reference circuit with similar metal coverage as the circuit under test. >

26 Apr 1989TL;DR: A differential with a housing made in one piece, which housing has in its wall two large side openings (10), is normally designed with only two pinion gears (12a, 12b) mounted on a pinion gear shaft (14) as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A differential with a housing (2) made in one piece, which housing has in its wall two large side openings (10), is normally designed with only two pinion gears (12a, 12b) mounted on a pinion gear shaft (14). According to the invention, bearing parts (25, 26) are positioned in the side openings (10) and form the bearing points (23, 24) for a second pinion gear shaft (15) with a further two pinion gears (13a, 13b).
