24 Jun 2004TL;DR: In this paper, a method for processing a time domain reflectometry (TDR) signal used to determine at least one process variable for a material in a tank, wherein said TDR signal has been generated by a radar level gauge system comprising a pulse generator, a probe extending into the tank for guiding the pulse, and a receiver for receiving the signal, is presented.
Abstract: A method for processing a time domain reflectometry (TDR) signal used to determine at least one process variable for a material in a tank, wherein said TDR signal has been generated by a radar level gauge system comprising a pulse generator, a probe extending into the tank for guiding the pulse, and a receiver for receiving said TDR signal, and wherein the TDR signal comprises at least a surface reflection pulse caused by an interface between different materials in the tank, and an interfering pulse caused by a transition between the pulse generator and the probe. The method comprises obtaining a first sampled TDR signal with an amplification such that the interfering pulse is unsaturated, determining a compensation pulse signal using a previously stored pulse shape and a current pulse position, subtracting said compensation pulse signal from the first sampled TDR signal, determining if a surface reflection occurs in a zone where said interfering pulse has a significant interfering effect on any surface reflection pulse occurring in this zone, and, if no surface reflection occurs in this zone, updating the current pulse position.

30 Nov 2015TL;DR: In this paper, a new design for reducing the weight of the signal transmission and holding device (payload of the balloon) for transmittance of broad-band antenna signals from the captive balloon to the signal processing equipment on the ground.
Abstract: An RF-locating system that uses airborne antennas on a captive balloon. It comprises a new design for reducing the weight of the signal transmission and holding device (payload of the balloon) for transmittance of broad-band antenna signals from the captive balloon to the signal processing equipment on the ground. As signal transmission line for the antenna signals a lightweight fibre optic cable is used having a protective covering reinforced by synthetic fibres. The fibre optic cable has a tensile strength sufficient to replace the stay rope for the captive balloon. The electronic signal transmission devices have been designed to minimise power requirements and for a reduced payload.

TL;DR: How to provide an exhaustive statistics for practical measurements system in the case of information fusion is presented and is done either on Information Matrix form or based on a Taylor series expansion of the measurement in time or space.
Abstract: The aim of MPEG (Multi-Platforms Emitter Geolocation) is to use several measurements Angle Of Arrival (AOA) or Time Of Arrival/Frequency Of Arrival (TOA/FOA) from different Electronic Support Measures (ESM) platforms to determine an accurate emitter location. Sensors are geographically dispersed, and to combine the information that they acquire requires the information to be communicated to some location(s) where the data integration process occurs. The data link between the ESM platforms is expected to permit only very low data rates with a high latency. This means that the platforms can only exchange very restricted amounts of data. A potentially optimal way to compress the information when the measurements are noisy is to extract from the measurements an exhaustive statistic that summarizes all the information content at the local ESM. How to provide an exhaustive statistics for practical measurements system in the case of information fusion is presented. It is done either on Information Matrix form or based on a Taylor series expansion of the measurement in time or space.

01 Jan 1961TL;DR: In this article, the main elements of the Aurora rockets are one bigger and one smaller long-time burning rocket step and short-time solid propellant booster rockets, by combining, three variants are obtained.
Abstract: Project Aurora is a study regarding possible Swedish built sounding research rockets utilizing existing rocket motors originally developed for other purposes. The main elements of the Aurora rockets are one bigger and one smaller long-time burning rocket step and short-time solid propellant booster rockets. By combining, three variants are obtained, namely

TL;DR: The stationary flow through a supersonic cascade with reaction into the guide vanes has been treated in a previous paper as mentioned in this paper, where the relative velocity between rotor and vanes is taken into account.
The stationary flow through a supersonic cascade with reaction into the guide vanes has been treated in a previous paper [1]. If the relative velocity between rotor and guide vanes is taken into account, non-stationary phenomena emerge which may be classified as quasi-stationary and non-stationary proper, respectively. The quasi-stationary phenomena, which are the more important ones from a practical point of view, may be treated in much the same way as the stationary ones. Hence the main portion of the present investigation is devoted to the non-stationary phenomena proper.
