The impact of PEGylation patterns on the in vivo biodistribution of mixed shell micelles

TL;DR: The present study demonstrated that the PEGylated micelles with short hydrophilic PEG chains mixed on the surface were cleared quickly by the reticuloendothelial system (RES), and the single PEG2k P EGylated mouselles could efficiently prolong the blood circulation time and increase their deposition in tumor sites.

Synthesis and Use of Tris(trimethylsilyl)antimony for the Preparation of InSb Quantum Dots

TL;DR: In this paper, a straightforward experimental procedure was developed for the synthesis of highly crystalline InSb quantum dots (QDs), obtained via transsilyation of In(O2CCH3)3 with tris(trimethylsilyl)-antimony in the presence of coordinating ligands.
Journal ArticleDOI

Functionalization of quantum dots with multidentate zwitterionic ligands: impact on cellular interactions and cytotoxicity

TL;DR: Engineering the surface charge density and functionalization of nanoparticles, by multidentate zwitterionic polymeric ligands, provides a strategy to tune the surface properties of QDs, which impacts their cytotoxicity and cellular interaction at the nano-bio interface.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-Resolution Whole-Mount In Situ Hybridization Using Quantum Dot Nanocrystals

TL;DR: A method for direct QD labeling of modified oligonucleotide probes through streptavidin-biotin and antibody-mediated interactions (anti-FITC and anti-digoxigenin) that alleviates issues of photostability and limited brightness plaguing organic fluorophores and allows fluorescent imaging of cleared embryos.

Photoluminescence of CdSe and CdSe/ZnS quantum dots: Modifications for making the invisible visible at ensemble and single-molecule levels

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide an overview of recent research on the modulation of quantum dots photoluminescence and the applications of quantum dot to bioimaging, in particular, they summarize the physiochemical factors that affect the photolumininescence of CdSe or cdSe/ZnS quantum dots at ensemble and single-molecule levels.

Quantum Dot Bioconjugates for Ultrasensitive Nonisotopic Detection

TL;DR: Highly luminescent semiconductor quantum dots (zinc sulfide-capped cadmium selenide) have been covalently coupled to biomolecules for use in ultrasensitive biological detection and these nanometer-sized conjugates are water-soluble and biocompatible.

Long-Circulating and Target-Specific Nanoparticles: Theory to Practice

TL;DR: The surface mechanisms, which affords red blood cells long-circulatory lives and the ability of specific microorganisms to evade macrophage recognition, are explored and the rational approaches in the design as well as the biological performance of such constructs are assessed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nanoparticles in cancer therapy and diagnosis

TL;DR: The in vivo fate of these systems, after intravascular or tumoral administration, is discussed, as well as the mechanism involved in tumor regression, and the application of nanoparticles in imaging for cancer diagnosis is focused on.
