Movement Disorder Society-sponsored revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS): scale presentation and clinimetric testing results.

Christopher G. Goetz, +87 more
- 15 Nov 2008 -
TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Colonic inflammation in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: Findings provide evidence that enteric inflammation occurs in Parkinson's disease and further reinforce the role of peripheral inflammation in the initiation and/or the progression of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Clinically Important Difference on the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-sectional analysis of the CIDs for UPDRS total and motor scores was performed on patients with Parkinson disease (PD) using distribution-and anchor-based approaches based on the following external standards: disability (10% on the Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale), disease stage (1 stage on the Hoehn and Yahr Scale), and quality of life (1 SD on the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey).

Journal ArticleDOI

Walking in circles: navigation deficits from Parkinson's disease but not from cerebellar ataxia.

TL;DR: It is concluded that blindfolded navigation around a previously seen circle requires intact basal ganglia, but not cerebellar input, to affect spatial navigation round a circular walking path, Blindfolded.
Journal ArticleDOI

Predictive Validity of the UPDRS Postural Stability Score and the Functional Reach Test, when Compared with Ecologically Valid Reaching Tasks

TL;DR: It is suggested that the FRT score may better predict the risk of postural instability encountered during daily activities among individuals with PD.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

On automated assessment of Levodopa-induced dyskinesia in Parkinson's disease

TL;DR: A method for the analysis of accelerometer and gyroscope signals in order to automatically assess the Levodopa-induced dyskinesia in patients with Parkinson's disease is presented and results indicate high classification ability.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impaired metabolism of kynurenine and its metabolites in CSF of parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: Dysfunction of the KYN pathway may induce oxidative stress in the CNS in PD, and may also induce cytokine-mediated neuroinflammation in PD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Do Parkinson’s disease patients disclose their adverse events spontaneously?

TL;DR: Results showed that only 7% of AEs were reported spontaneously by patients, thus underscoring the importance of systematically asking about AEs in PD patients.
