TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.

TL;DR: Subthalamic stimulation was superior to medical therapy in patients with Parkinson's disease and early motor complications and time with good mobility and no dyskinesia.

TL;DR: Findings provide evidence that enteric inflammation occurs in Parkinson's disease and further reinforce the role of peripheral inflammation in the initiation and/or the progression of the disease.

The Clinically Important Difference on the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale
L. Shulman,Ann L. Gruber-Baldini,Karen E. Anderson,Paul S. Fishman,Stephen G. Reich,William J. Weiner +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-sectional analysis of the CIDs for UPDRS total and motor scores was performed on patients with Parkinson disease (PD) using distribution-and anchor-based approaches based on the following external standards: disability (10% on the Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale), disease stage (1 stage on the Hoehn and Yahr Scale), and quality of life (1 SD on the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey).

Occurrence risk and structure of depression in Parkinson disease with and without dementia: results from the GEPAD Study.
TL;DR: Depression rates are already substantially elevated at early PD stages, emphasizing the need for a thorough examination of mood disorders in all patients with PD.
Journal ArticleDOI
An 8-Year Follow-up on the Effect of Subthalamic Nucleus Deep Brain Stimulation on Pain in Parkinson Disease
TL;DR: Pain associated with PD is improved by STN DBS, and the beneficial effect persists after a long-term follow-up of 8 years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prospective memory in Parkinson disease across laboratory and self-reported everyday performance.
TL;DR: N nondemented individuals with PD are preferentially impaired on prospective memory tasks for which higher levels of executive control are needed to support intention retrieval, consistent across laboratory and reported real-world performance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Visual complaints and visual hallucinations in Parkinson's disease.
Prabitha Urwyler,Tobias Nef,Alison Killen,Daniel Collerton,Alan J. Thomas,Alan J. Thomas,David J. Burn,Ian G. McKeith,Urs Peter Mosimann,Urs Peter Mosimann +9 more
TL;DR: RVC emerged as risk factors predictive of the minor forms of hallucinations, but not recurrent complex visual hallucinations; but double vision and misjudging objects predicted passage hallucinations.
