Movement Disorder Society-sponsored revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS): scale presentation and clinimetric testing results.

Christopher G. Goetz, +87 more
- 15 Nov 2008 -
TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Colonic inflammation in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: Findings provide evidence that enteric inflammation occurs in Parkinson's disease and further reinforce the role of peripheral inflammation in the initiation and/or the progression of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Clinically Important Difference on the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-sectional analysis of the CIDs for UPDRS total and motor scores was performed on patients with Parkinson disease (PD) using distribution-and anchor-based approaches based on the following external standards: disability (10% on the Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale), disease stage (1 stage on the Hoehn and Yahr Scale), and quality of life (1 SD on the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey).

Second consensus statement on the diagnosis of multiple system atrophy

TL;DR: A consensus conference on multiple system atrophy (MSA) in 1998 established criteria for diagnosis that have been accepted widely as discussed by the authors, and since then, clinical, laboratory, neuropathologic, and imaging studies have advanced the field, requiring a fresh evaluation of diagnostic criteria.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neuropsychological features of patients with Parkinson’s disease and impulse control disorders

TL;DR: Preliminary evidence was detected suggesting a trend toward a worse performance of the PD-ICD group on few neuropsychological tasks which are at least partially sensitive to frontal lobe dysfunction, including tasks sensitive to dysfunction of ventral fronto-striatal loops.
Journal ArticleDOI

Apathy and depression in Parkinson’s disease: The Belgrade PD study report

TL;DR: It is suggested that apathy and depression may be separable in PD, although both are common in patients with PD, and these two conditions should be systematically screened and considered in the care and management of PD.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Noninvasive Imaging Approach to Understanding Speech Changes following Deep Brain Stimulation in Parkinson's Disease.

TL;DR: Evidence that impaired speech production accompanying STN-DBS may result from unintended activation of PMd is provided, and clinical application of functional imaging and TMS may lead to optimizing the delivery of STN -DBS to improve outcomes for speech production as well as general motor abilities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Link between non-motor symptoms and cognitive dysfunctions in de novo, drug-naive PD patients.

TL;DR: There was a relationship between sleep-NMS and cognitive dysfunctions and both REM behavioral sleep disorders and insomnia were associated with lower scores on several cognitive tests, and RBD was closely related to MCI.
