Journal ArticleDOI
Gamma knife thalamotomy for disabling tremor: a blinded evaluation.
TL;DR: Overall, it is found that GKT provided only modest antitremor efficacy and further prospective studies with careful neurologic evaluation of outcomes are necessary before GKT can be recommended for disabling tremor on a routine clinical basis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shunt-responsive parkinsonism and reversible white matter lesions in patients with idiopathic NPH.
Ichiro Akiguchi,Ichiro Akiguchi,Mitsuaki Ishii,Yuko Watanabe,Toshiyuki Watanabe,Teruaki Kawasaki,Hideo Yagi,Akihiko Shiino,Yoshitomo Shirakashi,Yoshitomo Shirakashi,Yasuhiro Kawamoto +10 more
TL;DR: iNPH often appears as a shunt-responsive type of parkinsonism and reversible white matter lesions among the geriatric population, and these symptoms and signs improved significantly after the operation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Emerging topics in FXTAS

TL;DR: This paper summarizes key emerging issues in fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome (FXTAS) as presented at the First International Conference on the FMR1 Premutation: Basic Mechanisms & Clinical Involvement in 2013.
Journal ArticleDOI
Occurrence risk and structure of depression in Parkinson disease with and without dementia: results from the GEPAD Study.
TL;DR: Depression rates are already substantially elevated at early PD stages, emphasizing the need for a thorough examination of mood disorders in all patients with PD.
Journal ArticleDOI
An 8-Year Follow-up on the Effect of Subthalamic Nucleus Deep Brain Stimulation on Pain in Parkinson Disease
TL;DR: Pain associated with PD is improved by STN DBS, and the beneficial effect persists after a long-term follow-up of 8 years.

TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.

TL;DR: Subthalamic stimulation was superior to medical therapy in patients with Parkinson's disease and early motor complications and time with good mobility and no dyskinesia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Colonic inflammation in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-sectional analysis of the CIDs for UPDRS total and motor scores was performed on patients with Parkinson disease (PD) using distribution-and anchor-based approaches based on the following external standards: disability (10% on the Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale), disease stage (1 stage on the Hoehn and Yahr Scale), and quality of life (1 SD on the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey).
