Journal ArticleDOI

The psychometric properties and clinical utility of measures of walking and mobility in neurological conditions: a systematic review:

TL;DR: The 5-m, 10-m and six-minute walk test, High Level Mobility Assessment Tool and the Rivermead Mobility Index are psychometrically robust measures of walking and mobility and are feasible for use in clinical practice.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cannabidiol for the treatment of psychosis in Parkinson’s disease

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the efficacy, tolerability and safety of CBD on patients with Parkinson's disease with psychotic symptoms and found that CBD did not worsen the motor function and decreased the total scores of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale.

Prognosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment in Early Parkinson DiseaseThe Norwegian ParkWest Study

TL;DR: In this article, serial neuropsychological tests of attention, executive function, verbal memory, and visuospatial skills were administered at baseline, 1 year, and 3 years.
Journal ArticleDOI

The spectrum of neuropsychiatric symptoms in patients with early untreated Parkinson’s disease

TL;DR: Depression, apathy and sleep disturbance are more common in patients than in people without PD, and both psychological stress and brain changes associated with PD are likely to contribute to the higher frequencies.

Movement Disorder Society-sponsored revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS): scale presentation and clinimetric testing results.

Christopher G. Goetz, +87 more
- 15 Nov 2008 -
TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Colonic inflammation in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: Findings provide evidence that enteric inflammation occurs in Parkinson's disease and further reinforce the role of peripheral inflammation in the initiation and/or the progression of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of pedunculopontine nucleus area stimulation on gait disorders in Parkinson's disease

TL;DR: Although freezing of gait can be improved by low-frequency electrical stimulation of the pedunculopontine nucleus area in some patients with Parkinson's disease, the overall results are disappointing compared to the high levels of expectation raised by previous open label studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Clinically Important Difference on the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-sectional analysis of the CIDs for UPDRS total and motor scores was performed on patients with Parkinson disease (PD) using distribution-and anchor-based approaches based on the following external standards: disability (10% on the Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale), disease stage (1 stage on the Hoehn and Yahr Scale), and quality of life (1 SD on the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey).
