Journal ArticleDOI

The association between alterations of eye movement control and cerebral intrinsic functional connectivity in Parkinson's disease

TL;DR: Dysfunctional eye movement control in PD seems to be primarily associated with (cortical) executive deficits, rather than being related to the ponto-cerebellar circuits or the oculomotor brainstem nuclei.
Journal ArticleDOI

The impact of occupational therapy in Parkinson’s disease: a randomized controlled feasibility study

TL;DR: The positive perceived impact of occupational therapy warrants a large-scale trial, and Adaptations in instructions and training are needed to use the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure as primary outcome measure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Repeatability of aerobic capacity measurements in Parkinson Disease

TL;DR: The results demonstrate that measurement of VO(2peak) is reliable and repeatable in subjects with mild to moderate PD, thereby validating use of this parameter for assessing the effects of exercise interventions on cardiorespiratory fitness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rotigotine transdermal system for control of early morning motor impairment and sleep disturbances in patients with Parkinson’s disease

TL;DR: A role for rotigotine in treatment of nocturnal and early morning motor disabilities in PD patients is suggested, and it is suggested that first morning dose of regular oral antiparkinsonian medication should be introduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Advances in wearable technology for rehabilitation.

TL;DR: This chapter summarizes recent advances in the field of wearable technology and presents examples of application of this technology in rehabilitation.

Movement Disorder Society-sponsored revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS): scale presentation and clinimetric testing results.

Christopher G. Goetz, +87 more
- 15 Nov 2008 -
TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Colonic inflammation in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: Findings provide evidence that enteric inflammation occurs in Parkinson's disease and further reinforce the role of peripheral inflammation in the initiation and/or the progression of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of pedunculopontine nucleus area stimulation on gait disorders in Parkinson's disease

TL;DR: Although freezing of gait can be improved by low-frequency electrical stimulation of the pedunculopontine nucleus area in some patients with Parkinson's disease, the overall results are disappointing compared to the high levels of expectation raised by previous open label studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Clinically Important Difference on the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-sectional analysis of the CIDs for UPDRS total and motor scores was performed on patients with Parkinson disease (PD) using distribution-and anchor-based approaches based on the following external standards: disability (10% on the Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale), disease stage (1 stage on the Hoehn and Yahr Scale), and quality of life (1 SD on the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey).
