Movement Disorder Society-sponsored revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS): scale presentation and clinimetric testing results.

Christopher G. Goetz, +87 more
- 15 Nov 2008 -
TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Colonic inflammation in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: Findings provide evidence that enteric inflammation occurs in Parkinson's disease and further reinforce the role of peripheral inflammation in the initiation and/or the progression of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Clinically Important Difference on the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-sectional analysis of the CIDs for UPDRS total and motor scores was performed on patients with Parkinson disease (PD) using distribution-and anchor-based approaches based on the following external standards: disability (10% on the Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale), disease stage (1 stage on the Hoehn and Yahr Scale), and quality of life (1 SD on the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey).

Journal ArticleDOI

A new measure of movement symmetry in early Parkinson's disease patients using symbolic processing of inertial sensor data

TL;DR: A novel symbol based symmetry index calculated from inertial sensor data is introduced, explained, evaluated, and compared to six other symmetry measures and suggests that the proposed symmetry index is appropriate for this particular group of patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effects of a secondary task on forward and backward walking in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: Walking backward seemed to affect gait more than dual tasking in those with PD,although the subset of freezers appeared particularly affected by both challenges.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of health Baduanjin Qigong for mild to moderate Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: The present study investigated the effectiveness of Baduanjin Qigong on symptoms related to gait, functional mobility and sleep in Parkinson disease patients and found it to be effective.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of stimulus-response compatibility on inhibitory processes in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: The data show that inhibitory deficits in PD are only evident in complex (incompatible) stimulus–response mappings, and these effects are probably due to an overstrain of striatal processes.
