Movement Disorder Society-sponsored revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS): scale presentation and clinimetric testing results.

Christopher G. Goetz, +87 more
- 15 Nov 2008 -
TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Colonic inflammation in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: Findings provide evidence that enteric inflammation occurs in Parkinson's disease and further reinforce the role of peripheral inflammation in the initiation and/or the progression of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Clinically Important Difference on the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-sectional analysis of the CIDs for UPDRS total and motor scores was performed on patients with Parkinson disease (PD) using distribution-and anchor-based approaches based on the following external standards: disability (10% on the Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale), disease stage (1 stage on the Hoehn and Yahr Scale), and quality of life (1 SD on the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey).

Resistance versus Balance Training to Improve Postural Control in Parkinson's Disease: A Randomized Rater Blinded Controlled Study.

TL;DR: The results indicate a relationship between the enhancement of rate of force development and the improvement of postural control and there was weak evidence that freely coordinated resistance training might be more effective than balance training.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vascular pathology in patients with idiopathic Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: Evidence that subclinical vascular pathology could influence the clinical status by contributing to motor and cognitive dysfunction in PD is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spatial and Object Working Memory Deficits in Parkinson's Disease Are due to Impairment in Different Underlying Processes

TL;DR: The results suggest that deficits in working memory for spatial and object information are mediated by distinct cognitive processes in nondemented patients with PD and may differ in their pathophysiological basis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Behavioral treatments for speech in Parkinson's disease: meta-analyses and review of the literature.

TL;DR: It was showed that intensive therapies in PD are the most effective for hypophonia and can lead to some improvement of voice pitch, and behavioral speech rehabilitation in PD still needs further validation.
