Movement Disorder Society-sponsored revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS): scale presentation and clinimetric testing results.

Christopher G. Goetz, +87 more
- 15 Nov 2008 -
TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Colonic inflammation in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: Findings provide evidence that enteric inflammation occurs in Parkinson's disease and further reinforce the role of peripheral inflammation in the initiation and/or the progression of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Clinically Important Difference on the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-sectional analysis of the CIDs for UPDRS total and motor scores was performed on patients with Parkinson disease (PD) using distribution-and anchor-based approaches based on the following external standards: disability (10% on the Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale), disease stage (1 stage on the Hoehn and Yahr Scale), and quality of life (1 SD on the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey).

Journal ArticleDOI

Cognitive control dysfunction in workers exposed to manganese-containing welding fume.

TL;DR: Occupational exposure to Mn-containing welding fume may be associated with poorer working memory performance, and workers may benefit from practices that reduce exposure intensity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rest-Activity Pattern Alterations in Idiopathic REM Sleep Behavior Disorder.

TL;DR: Investigation of the differences in actigraphy‐measured rest‐activity patterns across different stages of α‐synucleinopathy found them to be related to sleep–wake cycle, circadian rest-activity rhythm, and physical activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Frequency and profile of Parkinson's disease prodromi in patients with malignant melanoma

TL;DR: History of melanoma was associated with increased prevalence of prodromal markers of PD and motor and non-motor features of PD, specifically related to melanoma location at the sun-exposed skin of the head or neck.
Journal ArticleDOI

Subthalamic nucleus stimulation reverses spinal motoneuron activity in parkinsonian patients.

TL;DR: The unexpected finding that changes in the rigidity score and the amount of homosynaptic depression are time-locked to the onset of deep brain stimulation leads the authors to reconsider the mechanisms underlying changes in homosyaptic depression.
Journal ArticleDOI

Examination of the UPDRS Bradykinesia Subscale: Equivalence, Reliability and Validity

TL;DR: The bradykinesia subscale is a valid and reliable assessment when administered separately from the rest of the UPDRS motor examination; however, caution should be taken when comparing mean scores across studies or occasions when different administrations are used.
