Movement Disorder Society-sponsored revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS): scale presentation and clinimetric testing results.

Christopher G. Goetz, +87 more
- 15 Nov 2008 -
TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Colonic inflammation in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: Findings provide evidence that enteric inflammation occurs in Parkinson's disease and further reinforce the role of peripheral inflammation in the initiation and/or the progression of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Clinically Important Difference on the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-sectional analysis of the CIDs for UPDRS total and motor scores was performed on patients with Parkinson disease (PD) using distribution-and anchor-based approaches based on the following external standards: disability (10% on the Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale), disease stage (1 stage on the Hoehn and Yahr Scale), and quality of life (1 SD on the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey).

Journal ArticleDOI

Functional neuroimaging of motor control in parkinson's disease: A meta‐analysis

TL;DR: A meta‐analysis of previous neuroimaging studies was performed to identify patterns of abnormal movement‐related activation in PD that were consistent across studies, and indicated that nigrostriatal dopaminergic denervation affects neural processing in the denervated striatal motor territory.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reduced α4β2*–Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor Binding and Its Relationship to Mild Cognitive and Depressive Symptoms in Parkinson Disease

TL;DR: There is a broad reduction of alpha4beta2*-nAChR availability in patients with PD without clinically manifest dementia or depression compared with healthy volunteers, and novel in vivo evidence for a role of the cholinergic neurotransmission in psychiatric comorbidity of PD is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI

Amyloid imaging of Lewy body-associated disorders.

TL;DR: It is suggested that the presence of fibrillar amyloid‐β does not distinguish between clinical subtypes of Lewy body‐associated disorders, although larger numbers are needed to more definitively rule out this association.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oral and nasal microbiota in Parkinson's disease

TL;DR: The oral microbiome deserves additional research regarding its connection to PD and its biomarker potential, and the higher abundance of oral pathogens in men underlines the importance of monitoring and promoting male dental health.
