Movement Disorder Society-sponsored revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS): scale presentation and clinimetric testing results.

Christopher G. Goetz, +87 more
- 15 Nov 2008 -
TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Colonic inflammation in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: Findings provide evidence that enteric inflammation occurs in Parkinson's disease and further reinforce the role of peripheral inflammation in the initiation and/or the progression of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Clinically Important Difference on the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-sectional analysis of the CIDs for UPDRS total and motor scores was performed on patients with Parkinson disease (PD) using distribution-and anchor-based approaches based on the following external standards: disability (10% on the Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale), disease stage (1 stage on the Hoehn and Yahr Scale), and quality of life (1 SD on the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey).

Journal ArticleDOI

Quantitative MRI evaluation of gastric motility in patients with Parkinson's disease: Correlation of dyspeptic symptoms with volumetry and motility indices.

TL;DR: Gastric motility can be quantitatively assessed by MRI, showing decreased GMI, delayed GE, and prolonged T1/2 in PD patients with early satiety or dyspepsia in this IRB-approved study.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neurophysiological correlates of motor and working memory performance following subthalamic nucleus stimulation

TL;DR: It is concluded that STN DBS normalizes neurophysiological activity in fronto striatal circuits and this may independently affect motor and cognitive function.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Degree of Parkinson's disease severity estimation based on speech signal processing

TL;DR: It was shown that information extracted through variety of speech tasks can be used to estimate the degree of PD severity and guided regularized random forest algorithm to select features with maximum clinical information and random forests regression to estimate PD severity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Life-threatening DBS withdrawal syndrome in Parkinson's disease can be treated with early reimplantation.

TL;DR: Early reimplantation of the DBS-hardware is a treatment option of theDBS-WDS when the life-threatening urgency overrides surgical standards and observation of the syndrome indicates pharmacological unresponsiveness of the dopaminergic system in advanced PD and long-term DBS.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quantitative assessment of posture in healthy controls and patients with Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: The results confirmed gender differences and the progression of postural deviation in PD patients with age and empirically support the ≥30° TCC angle as a defining criterium for camptocormia.
