Abstract: Rhamnolipid (Rh) is a biosurfactant produced by the bacterial Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This present study investigates rhizospheric strain C1501 of P. aeruginosa with an accession number KF976394 with the best production of rhamnolipid: a biosurfactant. The partially purified rhamnolipid from strain C1501 and Tween 80 was tested on mycelial growth of wild strain C1136. The enzyme activities involved in biodegradation, as well as necrosis induction on the tested weeds, were performed using scanning electron microscopy. It was observed that the different concentrations of rhamnolipid tested enhanced the dry mycelia weight yield of Lasiodiplodia pseudotheobromae which has been established to be producing a phytotoxic metabolite for killing weeds. It was observed that strain C1136 had a high level of cellulase and xylanase enzyme activities during this study. The scanning electron microscopy showed that the mutant strain of C1136 combined with 0.003% v/v of rhamnolipid enhances biodegradability and a high level of necrosis on the tested weeds compared with that on the untreated weeds. The highest CMCase activities and xylanase activities were obtained on the fourth day from the phytotoxic metabolite produced from the mutant strain of L. pseudotheobromae when combined with 0.003% v/v of rhamnolipid. This study has shown that rhamnolipid can serve as an adjuvant in order to enhance the penetrability of bioherbicide active ingredient for controlling weeds.

Abstract: Automated Accounting Information System (AAIS) provides a tool for finance department to enhance organizational effectiveness especially in this era of global technology advancement. The study examined the effect of accounting information system on organizational effectiveness with special reference to selected construction firms in the Ibadan metropolis. Specifically, the study examined the effects of accounting information on quality of financial reports and decision –making. Purposive sampling technique was adopted in selecting a total of ten personnel from each of the selected companies as sample for the study. A hypothesis was formulated and both descriptive and inferential statistical tools were employed to analyze the data. The results show that accounting information system has effect on organizational effectiveness. Recommendations were subsequently made to both the managers of such organization and government on how the use of AAIS known as ‘Contract Plus– Financial and Project Accounting’ package software can enhance performance in Finance Departments.

Abstract: This work investigated the effect of plantain peels as co-substrate in the anaerobic digestion of cow dung for efficient and high biogas production. The biogas experiments were carried out in two different 5 L anaerobic digesters and incubated for 40 days at ambient mesophilic temperatures (28 o C to 34 °C). The results showed that co-digestion of cow dung with plantain peels as co-substrate reduced start-up time for biogas generation and increased biogas yield by 18% as compared to cow dung alone. Peak biogas production was obtained for both digesters at pH of 6.7 and 6.9 as well as temperature of 29 and 30 o C, respectively. Modelling study revealed that exponential plot simulated better in both ascending and descending limb than the linear plot the biogas production rates in biogas production from cow dung co-digested with plantain peels and cow dung alone, respectively. Logistic growth model and modified Gompertz plot showed better correlation of cumulative biogas production than exponential rise to maximum plot. These results show that biogas production can be enhanced efficiently through co-digestion process.

Abstract: In the face of excruciating poverty in the rural economy where in farmers are major players, credit is necessary for capital formation, diversified agricultural production and efficiency in agricultural resource-use. This paper thus examines the credit-linked differences in production knowledge among sweet potatoes farmers in Osun- State. The objectives relates to socio-economic differences and resource use efficiency between farmers producing with credit and farmers producing without credit. In this while, the study was able to access the impact of credit on the resource productivity of the sweet potatoes farmers. A sample of 140 farmers comprising 60 that used credit and 80 that did not was randomly selected for detailed study. Primary data obtained from them were analyzed by Marginal Value Product and Multiple Regression Technique. Results indicated that farmers that produced with credit use resources efficiently than those without credit.
