LSST: from Science Drivers to Reference Design and Anticipated Data Products

Željko Ivezić, +312 more
- 15 May 2008 -
TL;DR: The LSST design is driven by four main science themes: probing dark energy and dark matter, taking an inventory of the solar system, exploring the transient optical sky, and mapping the Milky Way.

The clustering of galaxies in the completed SDSS-III Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey: cosmological analysis of the DR12 galaxy sample

Shadab Alam, +90 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present cosmological results from the final galaxy clustering data set of the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey, part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III.
Journal ArticleDOI

The clustering of galaxies in the sdss-iii baryon oscillation spectroscopic survey: Baryon acoustic oscillations in the data release 9 spectroscopic galaxy sample

Lauren Anderson, +76 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a measurement of the cosmic distance scale from detections of the baryon acoustic oscillations in the clustering of galaxies from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS), which is part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III (SDSS-III).
Journal ArticleDOI

$f(R,T)$ gravity

TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered a modified theory of gravity, where the gravitational Lagrangian is given by an arbitrary function of the Ricci scalar and of the trace of the stress-energy tensor.

Primordial non-Gaussianity from the covariance of galaxy cluster counts

TL;DR: In this article, it has been shown that the strong scale dependence of the non-Gaussian halo bias imprints a distinct signature on the covariance of cluster counts, which can be used to forecast f_(NL) constraints for the upcoming Dark Energy Survey.

Locally Biased Galaxy Formation and Large-Scale Structure

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the morphology-density relation and a wide range of simple models for biased galaxy formation on statistical measures of large-scale structure was examined, and the authors compared the behavior of local biasing models, in which the efficiency of galaxy formation is determined by the density, geometry, or velocity dispersion of the local mass distribution, with that of non-local biasing model, which is modulated coherently over scales larger than the galaxy correlation length.

A Geometrical Test of the Cosmological Energy Contents Using the Lyα Forest

TL;DR: In this paper, the Lyα forest was used to compare the correlations in absorption in one quasar spectrum with correlations between the spectra of neighboring quasars to determine the relation of the redshift distance scale to the angle distance scale at the red shift of the absorbers, z~2-4.

Designing Future Dark Energy Space Mission: I. Building Realistic Galaxy Spectro-Photometric Catalogs and their first applications

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors constructed realistic and flexible mock catalogs based on the knowledge of galaxy population from current deep surveys, and derived some basic requirements to help designing future dark energy mission in terms of number of galaxies available for the weak-lensing analysis as a function of the PSF size and depth of the survey.
