Journal ArticleDOI

Chitin induces accumulation in tissue of innate immune cells associated with allergy

TL;DR: It is shown that chitin induces the accumulation in tissue of IL-4-expressing innate immune cells, including eosinophils and basophils, when given to mice, and this process can be negatively regulated by a vertebrate chit inase.
Journal ArticleDOI

Guidelines for the use of flow cytometry and cell sorting in immunological studies (second edition)

Andrea Cossarizza, +462 more
TL;DR: These guidelines are a consensus work of a considerable number of members of the immunology and flow cytometry community providing the theory and key practical aspects offlow cytometry enabling immunologists to avoid the common errors that often undermine immunological data.
Journal ArticleDOI

Constitutive ablation of dendritic cells breaks self-tolerance of CD4 T cells and results in spontaneous fatal autoimmunity

TL;DR: It is shown that DCs play an essential role to protect against fatal autoimmunity under steady-state conditions and could be induced by reconstitution of wild-type mice with bone marrow from ΔDC mice, whereas mixed BM chimeras that received BM from Δ DC and WT mice remained healthy.
