Journal ArticleDOI
Chromosomal assignment of the human SA gene to 16p13.11 and demonstration of its expression in the kidney.
TL;DR: The human homologue of the SA gene is located to chromosome 16p13.11, by a combination of fluorescence in-situ hybridization and analysis of somatic cell hybrids carrying different segments of chromosome 16.
Journal ArticleDOI
Apolipoprotein E polymorphism does not predict risk of restenosis after coronary angioplasty
Nilesh J. Samani,Daniel Martin,M. J. Brack,James H. S. Cullen,Robert Wallis,David Lodwick,A. Chauhan,Alex Harley,John R. Thompson,Anthony H. Gershlick,David P. de Bono +10 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that in this cohort, the apo E4 allele does not either independently or acting synergistically with the ACE D allele increase the risk of restenosis after PTCA, and that APo E genotyping will not be a useful predictor of risk before the procedure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chromosome 1 blood pressure QTL region influences renal function curve and salt sensitivity in SHR.
TL;DR: Findings suggest that the BP QTL(s) present in this region of chromosome 1 influences BP and salt sensitivity, at least partly, by modulating pressure-natriuresis.
Journal ArticleDOI
The relation of rapid changes in obesity measures to lipid profile - insights from a nationwide metabolic health survey in 444 Polish cities.
Bernhard M. Kaess,Bernhard M. Kaess,Jacek Jóźwiak,Christopher P. Nelson,Witold Lukas,Mirosław Mastej,Adam Windak,Tomasz Tomasik,Władysław Grzeszczak,Andrzej Tykarski,Jerzy Gąsowski,Izabella Ślęzak-Prochazka,Andrzej Ślęzak,Fadi J. Charchar,Fadi J. Charchar,Naveed Sattar,John R. Thompson,Nilesh J. Samani,Maciej Tomaszewski +18 more
TL;DR: Moderate changes in obesity measures tracked with a significant deterioration in measures of pro-atherogenic dyslipidaemia at both personal and population level, predominantly driven by factors not measureable directly through either BMI or waist circumference.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiovascular events and mortality in people with and without type 2 diabetes: An observational study in a contemporary multi-ethnic population.
Briana Coles,Francesco Zaccardi,Suping Ling,Melanie J. Davies,Nilesh J. Samani,Kamlesh Khunti +5 more
TL;DR: The aim of this study was to examine ethnicity‐specific associations between type 2 diabetes mellitus and the risk of a cardiovascular disease (CVD) event as well as risk of specific CVD phenotypes in England.
