27 Apr 2009TL;DR: In this paper, a method and an apparatus for conforming a blank (35) onto forming surface sections (3) of a forming tool (5) by drawing vacuum against an elastic vacuum bag (1) for transmitting forming forces from the elastic bag to the blank is presented.
Abstract: The present invention regards a method and an apparatus for conforming a blank (35) onto forming surface sections (3) of a forming tool (5) by drawing vacuum against an elastic vacuum bag (1) for transmitting forming forces from the elastic vacuum bag (1) to the blank (35), the elastic vacuum bag (1) comprises at least one bag section having a different stiffness than other bag sections. The at least one bag section is an elongated bag section (13,13) having a stiffness larger than that of surrounding bag sections (15), the location of the elongated bag section (13,13) of the elastic vacuum bag (1) corresponds, when the elastic vacuum bag (1) after said completion lies against the forming surface sections (3) having the blank (35) in between, with an elongated forming surface section (10) of the forming tool (5) where the blank (35) requires a forming force (F) being larger than that of the surrounding bag sections (15).

11 Dec 2006TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a curved elongated structural element (20) of composite material, which consists of a first elongated portion (23) and a second elongated part (25) in an angled relation, the method comprises the steps of: providing a substantially flat blank (1) consisting a first (19') and second (second elongated edge (19) edge, folding the blank over a first portion forming surface (31), and bending the forming tool's (15) flexible tool body (17) such that its
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for manufacturing of a curved elongated structural element (20) of composite material, the curved elongated structural element (20) comprises a first elongated portion (23) and a second elongated portion (25) in an angled relation, the method comprises the steps of: providing a substantially flat blank (1) of composite material comprising a first (19') and second elongated edge (19"); folding the blank (1) over a first portion forming surface (31) and a second portion forming surface (33) of a forming tool's (15) flexible tool body (17) for forming the first elongated portion (23) and the second elongated portion (25); and bending the forming tool's (15) tool body (17) such that its bending moment centre (Mc) prevails essentially adjacent the first portion forming surface (31).

01 May 2017TL;DR: It is found that companies contribute to OSS projects in different ways, such as employing core project developers, making donations, and joining project steering committees in order to advance strategic interests.
Abstract: Professionals contribute to open source software (OSS) projects as part of their employment. Previous research has addressed motivations of individuals and the ways they engage with OSS projects. However, there is a lack of research which examines and explains work practices used by companies in their engagement with projects. Work practices used by companies to contribute to five established OSS projects are investigated through examination of the actions of employees in public communication channels and draw on our experiences when analysing engagement with the same projects. We find that companies utilise work practices for contributing which are congruent with the circumstances and their capabilities that support their short and long term needs. We find that companies contribute to OSS projects in different ways, such as employing core project developers, making donations, and joining project steering committees in order to advance strategic interests.

07 Oct 2010TL;DR: Results from interviews with two fighter pilots are described as well as a discussion about how these results can guide the design of a military fighter pilot decision support system, with focus on team cooperation.
Abstract: Military fighter pilots have to make suitable decisions fast in an environment where continuously increasing flows of information from sensors, team members and databases are provided. Not only do ...

16 Oct 2002TL;DR: In this article, a method and device for a drive shaft (6) which drive shaft is arranged at its first end for operative connection with a drive mechanism (4) that applies a first torque to the drive shaft, and which driver shaft is at its second end for operating with a mechanism (9) driven by the drive mechanism, is described.
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and device for a drive shaft (6), which drive shaft is arranged at its first end for operative connection with a drive mechanism (4) that applies a first torque to the drive shaft, and which drive shaft is arranged at its second end for operative connection with a mechanism (9) driven by the drive shaft. The invention is characterized in that the drive shaft (6) has, at at least one of its ends, a notch (15) arranged so as to receive a connector (12, 10) for the associated mechanism, and in that the wall (7) of the notch is made, in at least one area at said end, of fiber composite material comprising a first set of fibers that extends into the notch wall in a direction falling roughly within a range of +( 10° -80°) relative to the longitudinal direction of the drive shaft, where the positive range of angles indicates that the fibers are oriented in the first direction of torque. The first torque is thereby arranged so as to bring about transverse contraction of the shaft in said notch area so as to impose a clamping grip on the associated mechanism connector.
