TLDR
Because GSH plays a critical role in cellular defenses against electrophiles, oxidative stress and nitrosating species, pharmacologic manipulation of GSH synthesis has received much attention.

Plasmodium berghei: analysis of the γ-glutamylcysteine synthetase gene in drug-resistant lines ☆

TL;DR: An increase in pbggcs mRNA levels associated with CQ and mefloquine resistance and a link between increased GSH levels and drug resistance in Plasmodium are suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinicopathological and tissue indicators of para-aminophenol nephrotoxicity in sprague-dawley rats.

TL;DR: Insight into the progression of nephrotoxicity is provided, and the evaluation of potential urinary and tissue protein biomarkers that could complement the early detection of acute tubular injury is allowed.

Altering the Mitochondrial Fatty Acid Synthesis (mtFASII) Pathway Modulates Cellular Metabolic States and Bioactive Lipid Profiles as Revealed by Metabolomic Profiling.

TL;DR: The authors' results indicate that the mtFASII pathway contributes little to the fatty acid composition of mitochondrial lipid species examined, and Regulation of bioactive lipid levels by mtFasII implicates the pathway as a mediator of intracellular signaling.

Antioxidant Effect of Phycocyanin on Oxidative Stress Induced with Monosodium Glutamate in Rats

TL;DR: The evaluation of these values and the level of sulfhydryl showed that the administration of phycocyanin presented significant antioxidant effect reducing the oxidative stress induced by the monosodium glutamate in vivo.

Intertissue Flow of Glutathione (GSH) as a Tumor Growth-promoting Mechanism INTERLEUKIN 6 INDUCES GSH RELEASE FROM HEPATOCYTES IN METASTATIC B16 MELANOMA-BEARING MICE

TL;DR: The results show that IL-6 (mainly of tumor origin in B16-F10-bearing mice) may facilitate GSH release from hepatocytes and its interorgan transport to metastatic growing foci.

Efficacy of oral N-acetylcysteine in the treatment of acetaminophen overdose. Analysis of the national multicenter study (1976 to 1985)

TL;DR: It is concluded that N-acetylcysteine treatment should be started within eight hours of an acetaminophen overdose, but that treatment is still indicated at least as late as 24 hours after ingestion, and it may be superior when treatment is delayed.
