Biologic and pharmacologic regulation of mammalian glutathione synthesis.
TLDR
Because GSH plays a critical role in cellular defenses against electrophiles, oxidative stress and nitrosating species, pharmacologic manipulation of GSH synthesis has received much attention.About:

Reductive activation and thiol reactivity of benzazolo[3,2-a]quinolinium salts.
Antonio E. Alegria,Wilmarie Flores,Emelyn Cordones,L. A. Rivera,Pedro Sanchez-Cruz,Marisol Cordero,Osvaldo Cox +6 more
TL;DR: No correlation between Michaelis-Menten parameters and QSDs redox potentials was found regarding anaerobic or aerobic Cyt(III)c reduction and oxygen consumption, although maximum rates were observed for nitro-containing Q SDs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biochemical and biophysical characterization of Leishmania donovani gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase.
TL;DR: The study shows Gcs possesses ATPase activity even in the absence of substrates L-glutamate and L-Cysteine, and homology modeling and molecular dynamic simulation studies provided the structural rationale of LdGcs catalytic activity.

Egg white consumption increases GSH and lowers oxidative damage in 110-week-old geriatric mice hearts.
Ye Jiayu,Amy Botta,Svetlana Simtchouk,John Winkler,Lisa M Renaud,Hansika Dadlani,Betina Rasmussen,Rajavel Elango,Sanjoy Ghosh +8 more
TL;DR: E egg white intake may be an effective dietary strategy to attenuate oxidative damage in the senescent heart and preserve cardiac GSH with potent anti-oxidant and mild anti-inflammatory effects in the geriatric myocardium.

Kinetic measurement by LC/MS of γ-glutamylcysteine ligase activity
TL;DR: A new, fast and reliable kinetic LC/MS method which enabled us to optimize its detection of γ-Glutamylcysteine ligase, a heterodimer, with a heavy catalytic and a light regulatory subunit which plays a critical role in the anti-oxidant response.

Efficacy of oral N-acetylcysteine in the treatment of acetaminophen overdose. Analysis of the national multicenter study (1976 to 1985)
TL;DR: It is concluded that N-acetylcysteine treatment should be started within eight hours of an acetaminophen overdose, but that treatment is still indicated at least as late as 24 hours after ingestion, and it may be superior when treatment is delayed.
