Biologic and pharmacologic regulation of mammalian glutathione synthesis.
TLDR
Because GSH plays a critical role in cellular defenses against electrophiles, oxidative stress and nitrosating species, pharmacologic manipulation of GSH synthesis has received much attention.About:

Influence of chemical stability on the activity of the antimetastasis ruthenium compound NAMI-A
Gianni Sava,Alberta Bergamo,Sonia Zorzet,Barbara Gava,Claudia Casarsa,Moreno Cocchietto,A. Furlani,Vito Scarcia,Barbara Serli,Elisabetta Iengo,Enzo Alessio,Giovanni Mestroni +11 more
TL;DR: The data show that NAMI-A, although undergoing a series of chemical modifications, maintains its antimetastatic activity in a broad range of experimental conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
New aspects of amino acid metabolism in cancer.
TL;DR: This review discusses the stromal/cancer cell relationship, by using examples to illustrate a number of different ways in which cancer cells can rely on and contribute to their microenvironment – both as a stable network and in response to therapy.

Biomarkers of environmental toxicity and susceptibility in autism
David A. Geier,Janet K. Kern,Carolyn R. Garver,James B. Adams,Tapan Audhya,Robert Nataf,Mark R. Geier +6 more
TL;DR: The urinary porphyrin and CARS score correlations observed among study participants suggest that mercury intoxication is significantly associated with autistic symptoms, and the transsulfuration abnormalities observed among participants indicate that Mercury intoxication was associated with increased oxidative stress and decreased detoxification capacity.

Bioreducible Cationic Polymer-Based Nanoparticles for Efficient and Environmentally Triggered Cytoplasmic siRNA Delivery to Primary Human Brain Cancer Cells
TL;DR: These bioreducible PBAEs enabled 63 ± 16% gene knockdown using an extremely low 1 nM siRNA dose and showed preferential transfection of glioblastoma cells versus noncancer neural progenitor cells, highlighting their potential as efficient and tumor-specific carriers for siRNA-based nanomedicine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Glutathione in gingival crevicular fluid and its relation to local antioxidant capacity in periodontal health and disease
TL;DR: The high concentrations of GSH present in GCF in health are similar to those found extracellularly in the lung and may represent an important antioxidant and anti-inflammatory defence strategy common to exposed epithelial surfaces.

Efficacy of oral N-acetylcysteine in the treatment of acetaminophen overdose. Analysis of the national multicenter study (1976 to 1985)
TL;DR: It is concluded that N-acetylcysteine treatment should be started within eight hours of an acetaminophen overdose, but that treatment is still indicated at least as late as 24 hours after ingestion, and it may be superior when treatment is delayed.
