- Vol. 27, Iss: 9, pp 922-935
TLDR
Because GSH plays a critical role in cellular defenses against electrophiles, oxidative stress and nitrosating species, pharmacologic manipulation of GSH synthesis has received much attention.

Non-covalent anchoring of oligonucleotides on single-walled carbon nanotubes via short bioreducible linker

TL;DR: A novel, simple and convenient approach to assemble non-covalent hybrids of carbon nanotubes with therapeutic oligonucleotides immobilized by means of biodegradable linker is described and can be useful for the design of carbon Nanotubes-based nanoconstructions and biomaterials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of cadmium and glutathione on malic enzyme activity in brown shrimps (Crangon crangon) from the Gulf of Gdańsk

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that Cadmium inhibits ME activity from shrimp muscle, and that GSH and albumin can reduce this cadmium-inhibited NADP-dependent malic enzyme activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Upregulation of cellular glutathione levels in human ABCB5- and murine Abcb5-transfected cells

TL;DR: The results suggest that ABCB5/Abcb5 upregulates cellular glutathione levels to protect cells from various poisons.

Hydrogen Sulfide-Mediated Cellular Signaling and Cytoprotection

Hideo Kimura
TL;DR: This review focuses on the production of H2S from D-cysteine and polysulfides as possible signaling molecules derived from H2 S in astrocytes, which surround neuronal synapses and modulate their activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Roles of amino acid derivatives in the regulation of obesity

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of amino acid derivatives and possible mechanisms responsible for their anti-obesity effects is presented, which mainly include inhibiting adipogenesis, increasing lipolysis, promoting brown/beige adipose tissue (BAT) development and improving glucose metabolism.

Efficacy of oral N-acetylcysteine in the treatment of acetaminophen overdose. Analysis of the national multicenter study (1976 to 1985)

TL;DR: It is concluded that N-acetylcysteine treatment should be started within eight hours of an acetaminophen overdose, but that treatment is still indicated at least as late as 24 hours after ingestion, and it may be superior when treatment is delayed.
